These delicious treats, made from Berries, directly boost your Pokémon's Contest stats, which are crucial for the Visual Competition segment of any contest. Where to Make Poffins

The Poffin House is conveniently located in Hearthome City, just below the Pokémon Center. Inside, you'll find a Poffin-making pot. You'll need Berries to get started, which can be found growing all over the Sinnoh region or purchased from certain vendors.

Understanding Contest Stats

There are five Contest stats, each corresponding to a different Contest category:

  • Coolness: For Cool Contests
  • Beauty: For Beauty Contests
  • Cuteness: For Cute Contests
  • Smartness: For Smart Contests
  • Toughness: For Tough Contests

You can view your Pokémon's current Contest stats on its summary screen, alongside its regular battle stats. Each stat has a corresponding "flavor" preference for Poffins:

  • Spicy: Boosts Coolness
  • Dry: Boosts Beauty
  • Sweet: Boosts Cuteness
  • Bitter: Boosts Smartness
  • Sour: Boosts Toughness

The Poffin-Making Process

Making Poffins is a mini-game that requires a bit of finesse:

  1. Select Berries: Choose up to four Berries to put into the pot. The types of Berries you choose will determine the flavor and potency of the resulting Poffin. For example, a Cheri Berry is spicy, while a Chesto Berry is dry.
  2. Stir the Mixture: Use your stylus to stir the Poffin mixture in the pot. The goal is to stir at a consistent, moderate pace.
  3. Avoid Burning: Stir too fast, and the Poffin will burn, reducing its quality. Stir too slow, and it will also burn. A good rhythm is key!
  4. Observe the Consistency: As you stir, the mixture will change consistency. When it's ready, the Poffin will be complete.

The quality of your Poffin (indicated by its level) depends on how well you stirred and the quality of the Berries used. Higher-level Poffins will boost your Pokémon's Contest stats more effectively.

Strategic Poffin Feeding

To maximize your Pokémon's Contest potential, follow these steps:

  1. Identify Your Target Contest: Decide which Contest category you want your Pokémon to excel in (e.g., Beauty Contest).
  2. Gather Appropriate Berries: Collect Berries that produce the desired flavor. For Beauty, you'd want Dry-flavored Berries. Good early-game Dry Berries include Chesto Berries and Pecha Berries.
  3. Make High-Quality Poffins: Practice your Poffin-making skills to consistently produce high-level Poffins.
  4. Feed Your Pokémon: Give the Poffins to your chosen Contest Pokémon. Each Pokémon has a "sheen" limit, which caps how many Poffins it can consume. The higher the Poffin's level, the more sheen it adds.
  5. Boost Related Stats: While focusing on one primary Contest stat is important, also consider boosting the stats on either side of it on the status menu. For example, if you're aiming for a Beauty Contest, boosting both Beauty and Cuteness/Coolness can be beneficial.
