6.6. El Gigante Boss Strategy
The encounter with El Gigante in Chapter 5 of Resident Evil 4 Remake is one of the game's first major boss battles and a true test of Leon's combat skills. This colossal, mutated creature is a formidable foe, but with the right strategy, it can be overcome.
El Gigante is a massive, hulking humanoid infected with a prominent Plaga parasite on its back. Its primary attacks include powerful slams with its fists, throwing large boulders, and attempting to grab Leon. Its sheer size and strength make it a terrifying opponent, capable of dealing massive damage with each hit. The arena where this fight takes place is relatively open, with some environmental elements that can be used to your advantage.
The key to defeating El Gigante lies in targeting the exposed Plaga on its back. When El Gigante attacks, it will often bend over or rear up, exposing the glowing red parasite. This is your primary window of opportunity to deal significant damage. Aim for the Plaga with your most powerful weapons, such as the shotgun or magnum. If you have Ashley with you, she can also contribute by shooting at the Plaga when it's exposed.

If you find yourself running low on health, use your herbs or healing items. Don't be afraid to use the knife for finishing off weakened enemies or for quick damage when El Gigante is stunned. After dealing enough damage to the Plaga, El Gigante will eventually be defeated, allowing Leon and Ashley to escape the immediate danger. Remember to stay mobile, learn its attack patterns, and exploit its vulnerable moments.
