Enemy Database
Welcome to the Resident Evil 5 Enemy Database! This comprehensive guide will equip you with the knowledge and strategies needed to overcome every terrifying foe you encounter in the unforgiving landscapes of Kijuju. Understanding your enemies' weaknesses and attack patterns is paramount to survival, especially on higher difficulties.
Each entry provides detailed information on enemy behavior, effective weaponry, and specific tactical approaches. Prepare to face the Majini, the Uroboros, and many other horrors that stand between you and your mission.
Majini Variants
The Majini are the primary infected human enemies you will face. While seemingly human, they are controlled by the Las Plagas parasite, granting them increased aggression and resilience. Many variants exist, each requiring a slightly different approach.
Standard Majini
These are your most common adversaries, often encountered in large groups. They wield various melee weapons, from machetes and pipes to their bare fists.
- Location: Ubiquitous throughout Chapters 1-1 to 6-3.
- Strategy:
- Aim for headshots to stun them, then follow up with a melee attack (Square/X button) for an instant kill or to knock them down.
- If a Majini is stunned, your partner can often perform a follow-up melee attack, conserving your ammo.
- Conserve shotgun shells for groups or when you need to create space. The M3 Shotgun (found in Chapter 1-2, Village) is excellent for crowd control.
- use environmental hazards like exploding barrels (often found in the Village and Public Assembly areas) to take out multiple Majini at once.
- When overwhelmed, retreat to a defensible position or bottleneck to funnel them.
- Weakness: Headshots, melee attacks after a stun.
- Drops: Random items including Gold, Handgun Ammo, Shotgun Ammo, Green Herbs.
Armored Majini
These Majini wear makeshift armor, making them more resistant to frontal attacks. They often carry shields or wear helmets.
- Location: Appear from Chapter 2-1 onwards, particularly in the Mines and Ancient Village.
- Strategy:
- Shielded Majini: Aim for their exposed legs or arms. A well-placed Shotgun blast can sometimes break their shield. Grenades (found in various crates and enemy drops) are highly effective at staggering them and exposing their bodies.
- Helmeted Majini: Headshots are ineffective until the helmet is removed. Use a powerful weapon like the Shotgun or Rifle to break the helmet, then follow up with headshots. Alternatively, aim for the body until they are staggered.
- Flash Grenades are excellent for disorienting both types, allowing you to bypass their defenses for a quick melee or critical hit.
- Weakness: Exposed body parts, explosives, Flash Grenades.
- Drops: Often drop more valuable items, including Rifle Ammo, Incendiary Grenades, and occasionally treasures like the Ruby (Pear) in Chapter 2-1.
Chainsaw Majini (Executioner Majini)
A formidable and terrifying foe, the Chainsaw Majini is incredibly durable and can instantly kill you with a single hit from its chainsaw.
- Location: First encountered in Chapter 1-1, Public Assembly. Reappears in later chapters.
- Strategy:
- Maintain Distance: This is crucial. Never let him get close.
- High Damage Weapons: Use your most powerful weapons. The Shotgun (M3 Shotgun is ideal) is effective at close to medium range, while the Rifle (S75 Rifle, found in Chapter 1-1) is excellent for long-range damage.
- Explosives: Grenades (Hand Grenades, Incendiary Grenades) are highly effective at staggering him and dealing significant damage. Save them for this enemy.
- Environmental Traps: In Chapter 1-1, use the exploding barrels near the main gate. Lure him close and shoot the barrel.
- Partner Strategy: Have your partner focus fire while you distract him, or vice versa. If he targets your partner, lay down heavy fire. If he targets you, run and create distance while your partner shoots.
- Weak Point: While not immediately obvious, sustained damage will eventually expose a Plagas parasite on his back. Focus fire on this once it appears for critical damage.
- Weakness: Sustained high damage, explosives, exposed Plagas.
- Drops: Often drops the Guard's Key (Chapter 1-1), valuable treasures like the Gold Ring, and large amounts of Gold.
Big Man Majini (Giant Majini)
These hulking Majini are slow but possess immense strength, capable of crushing you with their bare hands or large weapons.
- Location: First appears in Chapter 2-2, Mining Area.
- Strategy:
- Leg Shots: Target their legs to slow them down and eventually bring them to their knees. This exposes their head for critical shots.
- Shotgun/Magnum: High-powered weapons are recommended. The Hydra (found in Chapter 4-1) or a fully upgraded M3 Shotgun can quickly dispatch them. The S&W M500 Magnum (found in Chapter 3-1) is also incredibly effective.
- Melee Follow-up: Once staggered or on their knees, perform a melee attack to deal significant damage.
- Avoid Grapples: If they grab you, mash the indicated button prompts quickly to escape before they deal massive damage.
- Weakness: Leg shots, high-powered weapons, melee attacks after stagger.
- Drops: Often drop valuable items like Magnum Ammo, Rocket Launcher Ammo (rarely), and treasures such as the Diamond (Brilliant).
B.O.W.s (Bio Organic Weapons)
Beyond the infected humans, you will face more grotesque and dangerous Bio Organic Weapons, products of Umbrella's and Tricell's twisted experiments.
Cephalo
These are parasitic creatures that emerge from the neck of a Majini after its head is destroyed. They have sharp, blade-like appendages.
- Location: Appear from Chapter 1-2 onwards, often from Majini killed with headshots.
- Strategy:
- Distance: Keep your distance as they have a short-range, sweeping attack.
- Flash Grenades: The most effective counter. A single Flash Grenade will instantly kill all Cephalos in its radius. Always carry a few.
- Shotgun: If you don't have Flash Grenades, a close-range Shotgun blast can dispatch them quickly.
- Incendiary Grenades: Also effective, but less efficient than Flash Grenades.
- Weakness: Flash Grenades, fire.
- Drops: Often drop Gold, Handgun Ammo, or occasionally a Green Herb.
Kipepeo
Flying, bat-like creatures that emerge from the backs of certain Majini. They are fast and can be difficult to target.
- Location: Appear from Chapter 2-1 onwards, particularly in the Mines and Ancient Village.
- Strategy:
- Automatic Weapons: The Machine Gun (MP5, found in Chapter 1-2) or Assault Rifle (AK-74, found in Chapter 2-1) are ideal for tracking and hitting these agile enemies.
- Shotgun: A well-aimed Shotgun blast can take them down if they fly close.
- Targeting: They are most vulnerable when they dive towards you or your partner.
- Flash Grenades: Similar to Cephalos, Flash Grenades will instantly kill Kipepeos caught in the blast.
- Weakness: Automatic fire, Flash Grenades.
- Drops: Usually drop Gold or Handgun Ammo.
Licker Beta
These mutated creatures are blind but have acute hearing and a deadly tongue attack. They are incredibly agile and can climb walls and ceilings.
- Location: First encountered in Chapter 5-1, Uroboros Research Facility.
- Strategy:
- Stealth: Walk slowly (hold L1/LB and move the left stick slightly) to avoid detection. If they don't hear you, you can often sneak past or get a free first shot.
- Flash Grenades: Stun them, allowing for easy follow-up attacks.
- Shotgun/Magnum: High damage weapons are crucial. Aim for their exposed brain, which is their critical weak point.
- Proximity Mines: Laying a Proximity Mine (found in Chapter 5-1) in their patrol path can deal massive damage and stun them.
- Co-op Tactic: Have one player distract them (by making noise or drawing fire) while the other flanks and shoots their brain.
- Weakness: Exposed brain, Flash Grenades, Proximity Mines.
- Drops: Often drop high-value items like Magnum Ammo, Rifle Ammo, and occasionally treasures such as the Soul Gem.
