6.11. Blueprints & Crafting
Rocket League's item economy has evolved, and understanding Blueprints and the Crafting system is crucial for acquiring the cosmetic items you desire. Blueprints are essentially recipes for specific items, obtained through gameplay. You can then choose to craft these items by spending in-game currency, known as Credits. This system offers a more direct path to desired items compared to the old crate system.
When you earn a Blueprint, it will appear in your inventory. Each Blueprint is tied to a specific item, such as a car body, a decal, a goal explosion, or wheels. The rarity of the Blueprint often corresponds to the rarity of the item it can create. You can view the item the Blueprint unlocks and its associated crafting cost in Credits.
How Blueprints Work:
- Obtaining Blueprints: Blueprints are awarded after completing matches, similar to how items were previously dropped. You can also receive them from Rocket Pass tiers.
- Viewing Your Blueprints: Navigate to the 'Garage' and then 'Blueprints' tab in the main menu to see all the Blueprints you possess.
- Understanding Blueprint Details: Each Blueprint will show the item it unlocks, its series (e.g., Velocity Series, ition Series), its rarity (e.g., Import, Exotic), and the Credit cost to craft it.
- Crafting an Item: If you decide you want the item, select the Blueprint and choose the 'Craft' option. This will deduct the specified amount of Credits from your account, and the item will be added to your inventory.
The Crafting System:
The Crafting system is directly linked to Blueprints. It's the mechanism by which you turn a Blueprint into a tangible item. The cost to craft an item varies sificantly based on its rarity and series. More desirable or rarer items will naturally have a higher crafting cost.
Tips for Managing Blueprints:
- Assess Value: Before crafting, consider the Credit cost versus the perceived value of the item. Is it an item you truly want and will use?
- Check the Item Shop: Sometimes, items available through Blueprints might also appear in the in-game Item Shop for a direct Credit purchase. Compare prices.
- Trade with Other Players: Blueprints themselves can be traded between players. You might be able to trade away Blueprints you don't want for Credits or other items you do want.
- Don't Hoard Everything: While it's tempting to keep every Blueprint, consider that some might be for very common items with low crafting costs or items you'll never use. Focus on Blueprints for items you genuinely desire.
- Rocket Pass: Progressing through the Rocket Pass is a great way to earn several Blueprints, often including some higher-tier ones.
The Blueprint and Crafting system provides a more transparent way to acquire specific items in Rocket League. By understanding how it works and managing your Blueprints wisely, you can efficiently customize your car and express your style on the field.
