From the museum courtyard, you'll enter a series of interconnected halls and chambers. Your first major find will be the Pump-Action Shotgun, usually in a display case or a side room. This weapon is excellent for close-range crowd control against Kleer Skeletons and Gnaar. You'll immediately put it to use against waves of these enemies. As you progress, you'll encounter your first Arachnoids. These spider-like creatures have a powerful energy cannon. Focus fire on their cannon arm to disable it, then finish them off. They often appear in conjunction with smaller enemies, so prioritize the Arachnoids first. The path will lead you through ancient Egyptian exhibits, some of which will collapse or open up to reveal more enemies. Keep an eye on the ceiling for potential drops. Eventually, you'll reach a large chamber with a central pedestal – this is where the ancient device is located. Be prepared for a significant fight upon entering this room, as it's usually a trigger for a large enemy wave.
