Serious Sam's combat is all about movement. Mastering these techniques will significantly improve your survivability:

- Circle Strafing: The most fundamental technique. Continuously move sideways (strafe) while keeping your crosshair on the enemy. This makes you a harder target and allows you to dodge projectiles.
- Backpedal & Shoot: For charging enemies like Headless Kamikazes and Sirian Werebulls, backpedaling while shooting allows you to maintain distance and deal damage without getting hit.
- Jump Strafing: Combining jumps with strafing can make you even harder to hit, especially against slower projectiles. It also allows you to cover ground faster in some situations.
- Environmental Awareness: Use pillars, walls, and other structures for temporary cover or to funnel enemies into choke points for easier crowd control. Don't get cornered!
- Rocket Jumping (Advanced): While not as prominent as in other shooters, a well-timed rocket jump can propel you to higher ledges or across gaps, sometimes revealing secrets or shortcuts. Practice this in safe areas first.
Constant, unpredictable movement is your best defense. A stationary Sam is a dead Sam.
