BD-1's Healing & Revive Mechanics
BD-1 is your indispensable droid companion, and his healing capabilities are vital for survival in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This section details how BD-1's healing works, how to manage your Stim Canisters, and the mechanics behind his revive function.
BD-1 carries your limited supply of healing charges, known as Stim Canisters. When Cal's health is depleted, you can command BD-1 to administer a stim, restoring a portion of his health. The number of Stim Canisters you can carry is limited, but this limit can be increased by finding specific collectibles throughout the game.
Healing Mechanics:
- Stim Canisters: These are your primary healing items. Each use restores a sificant amount of health.
- BD-1's Role: Cal must be stationary to allow BD-1 to administer a stim. This animation takes a few seconds, so find a safe moment to heal.
- Replenishment: Stim Canisters are replenished by resting at Meditation Circles. This action also respawns all enemies in the area.
- Increasing Capacity: Finding Stim Canister upgrades scattered throughout the game world permanently increases the maximum number of stims Cal can carry.
BD-1 also plays a crucial role in reviving Cal if he falls in combat. If Cal is defeated, BD-1 will attempt to revive him. This revive mechanic is a safety net, but it's not always guaranteed, especially against powerful enemies or in challenging environments. Successfully reviving Cal often requires him to be in a relatively safe position.
Revive Mechanics:
- Automatic Revive: If Cal falls, BD-1 will attempt to revive him. This is not a guaranteed success and depends on the situation.
- Environmental Factors: If Cal is in a precarious position (e.g., near a ledge, surrounded by enemies), BD-1 may struggle or fail to revive him.
- Player Intervention: In some cases, you might need to defend BD-1 while he is attempting to revive Cal.
The number of Stim Canisters you have is a critical resource. Prioritize finding Stim Canister upgrades to increase your survivability. Learning to heal at opportune moments, often after successfully parrying a series of attacks or creating distance from enemies, is a key skill to develop.
