Installing Mods

Learn how to install mods for Supermarket Simulator, covering .exe, .zip, and .rar file formats, as well as installing custom maps and using the game editor.

Rule of thumb: ALWAYS make backup copies before you overwrite something! Saves, maps, everything! You'll be sorry if you didn't and something goes wrong!

Installing .exe Mods:
If a mod comes in .exe format, it has a built-in installer. Simply run the .exe file, and the mod will be installed. The new content should appear the next time you start the game.

Installing .zip Mods:
Download the .zip file and save it to your disk without unpacking it. Navigate to your game's mod folder. This is typically located at Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2009\mods\ (for Windows XP). For other operating systems, it's usually within your Documents folder. Copy the .zip file into this 'mods' folder. The mod will be available the next time you start the game.

Installing .rar or Other Formats:
If a mod comes in .rar format, open the archive using software like WinRAR. If it contains only .zip files, extract the archive and copy those .zip files into your mods folder. If the archive contains other files and directories (like .i3D and .xml), it might be a map or require manual installation using the GIANTS Editor or another method. Always refer to the mod's description or readme file for specific instructions.

Installing Maps:
Player-made maps often replace the base game map. Navigate to your Farming Sim '09 installation folder (usually in Program Files), then go to data\maps. Make a backup of the entire 'maps' folder before proceeding. Extract the map mod files into your maps folder, overwriting existing files when prompted. Start a new career; old saves may not work with modded maps. Always check the mod's description or readme for specific installation methods.

Uninstalling Mods:
First, sell all instances of the modded item (vehicle, implement, etc.) in-game. Save your game and exit. Navigate to your 'mods' folder and delete the corresponding .zip file. The mod should be removed the next time you load your save.
