The Waverider: Core Abilities — Sword of the Sea Walkthrough
The Waverider's core abilities are essential for navigating the world of Sword of the Sea and restoring water to the land. Mastering these movements and interactions with environmental elements like green crystals and lanterns is crucial for progression.
In the Forbidden Valley chapter, you spend the entire time on the back of a dolphin. You can jump using the A button and perform your Resonate ability with X. The goal remains to restore water by hitting water orbs or lanterns.
- Dolphin Riding: In Forbidden Valley, ride a dolphin. Use the A button to jump and X for the Resonate ability.
- Green Crystals: When on the dolphin, hop up and hit all green crystals to pick up Tetra.
- Water Orbs/Lanterns: Activate these to restore water.
- Forbidden Valley Progression:
- Swim forward and activate all lanterns in the sand (small patch off to the left, bigger patch around a tower).
- Follow the path of water and fish up the hill; branch off left to activate more lanterns.
- Continue following the path over the bridge with large statues.
- Turn right and hop up the hill of sand to find more lanterns to activate, spawning jellyfish.
- Hop over the pillars using the jellyfish.
- Drop into the new area, take a left, and hop up the hill to activate another batch of lanterns.
- Continue ahead to the hill with statues, and just off to the right, activate lanterns surrounding the tower.
- Go to the statues and activate the lanterns in front of them, spawning jellyfish to hop to the next area.
- Before continuing on the water path, branch off to the left and use the towers to hop up to the higher hill. At the top, activate more lanterns.
- Locate two larger blue crystals (water orbs) and hit both to restore water and activate the path forward.
- Take the first stream and follow the linear path of sand (banners indicate the way). At the bottom, activate lanterns to spawn jellyfish.
- Hop on the jellyfish to the top and jump over the last bridge.
- Continue forward to the gate with three turtleheads. These are activated by hitting large blue water orb crystals.
- Go past the first crystal and keep hopping up to the higher levels.
- Cross over the jellyfish to the second blue crystal.
- From the second blue crystal, take a left and hop up the ledges to reach the final blue crystal. This activates all three turtleheads and creates a stream of water.
- Follow the path forward in this side view. Reach the end of the cavern, jump up, and smash the final blue crystal.
- Hop over the opening and into both water streams to move to the next chapter.
- Sacred River Progression:
- Go out of the cave into the temple and around the corner to the right.
- Encounter a gap with a green strip of air; use Water Rail (jump three times in a row) to cross.
- Go up the stairs on the left side and use Water Rail to float through the hanging gold lanterns.
- After activating the hanging lanterns, from the right side of the stairs, use Water Rail again to fly to the left side, past the hanging lanterns. Go past the glowing column, through the now-open gate.
- Continue through this room and into the next.
- Find a Stele (The Minder's Wisdom) at the far end after using Water Rail through the unlocked gate.
- From the stele, take a right to find a makeshift ramp leading up.
