Reach the Surface
This section guides you through activating turtleheads, finding collectibles, and navigating water streams to progress. You'll utilize jellyfish for vertical traversal and the Water Rail ability to reach hidden areas and activate crucial water orbs.
To progress through this area:
- At the start of the chapter, go up the stairs and drop off the ledge into the sand. Follow the path to a dolphin and hop on.
- Hop on jellyfish until you reach the top and jump over the last bridge.
- Continue forward until you reach a gate with three turtleheads. These require activation by hitting large blue water orb crystals.
Activating Turtleheads and Finding Collectibles
- Hop up to the left of the turtlehead gate, past the first blue crystal, and reach the lanterns in the sand.
- From the lanterns, turn right around the corner and hop up all ledges to an area with more lanterns. Activate them.
- Use the jellyfish to jump over the gap to find a shell.
- From the second blue crystal, take a left and hop up the ledges to the final blue crystal. This activates all three turtleheads, creating a stream of water to swim into.
Lore Totem Room and Secret Shell
- When you reach the first lore totem room, take a right towards the makeshift ramp.
- Directly before the ramp, you'll see a crack in the wall. Go up the ramp a little and use Water Rail to get inside.
- Use Water Rail again to cross the gap and find another shell.
Hidden Chest
- After activating the second batch of hanging lanterns, look right for a hole in the fencing.
- Jump through the first hole onto a ledge.
- Use Water Rail to jump through the second hole on the left side across from you.
- Straight ahead, you'll see a chest on a platform. Use Water Rail one more time to reach it.
Activating the Middle Water Orb
- A gate will open after bringing the water orb to the turtlehead.
- In this next room, go to either the left or right side and up the stairs.
- Face the middle water orb and use Water Rail to reach and activate it.
Sperm Whale Room and Shell
- In the room with the sperm whales, ride on one of their backs to reach the ledge around the top of the room.
- A shell will be waiting on your left side; jump over to it.
Lanterns and Geyser Spot
- After getting your achievement and collectible, go through the now-open gold gate and follow the path forward.
- You'll reach a ledge with two flags, looking down at an area below. This area has three patches of lanterns that you need to activate.
- After activating all three lantern spots, follow the gold path in the sand until you reach a geyser spot and activate it.
Cliffside Boat Shell
- After exiting the sperm whale room into the first area with boats, activate all three lantern patches and the geyser spot.
- Use the jellyfish to jump up to the tall rock in the center.
- At the top, turn around and face the cliffside in the distance. Boost and then use Water Rail to reach the boat built into the cliff.
- When you reach the boat, jump up into the little cave and collect the shell.
