Weapons Guide

Arming your party with the best possible weapons is fundamental to overcoming the challenges in Tales of Arise. Weapons not only increase your characters' attack power but also often come with unique stats and can be further enhanced through crafting and upgrades. This guide will help you understand the weapon system and how to acquire the most potent armaments for your party.

Each playable character wields a distinct weapon type, from Alphen's swords to Shionne's rifle. Weapons can be found in chests, obtained as quest rewards, purchased from shops, or crafted. The game also features powerful 'Devil's Arms' weapons that require specific materials to forge but offer immense power. Prioritizing weapon acquisition and upgrades will significantly impact your combat effectiveness.

Acquiring New Weapons

There are several ways to obtain new weapons:

  • Shops: Most towns and cities have weapon shops where you can purchase the latest available armaments. These are often the most accessible way to upgrade your gear.
  • Chests: Exploring dungeons and the open world will yield weapon caches. Always be on the lookout for treasure chests.
  • Quest Rewards: Certain side quests and main story progressions will reward you with powerful weapons.
  • Crafting: The most potent weapons, especially the 'Devil's Arms', require specific materials to craft. This often involves defeating challenging enemies or gathering rare resources.

Crafting Weapons

Crafting is essential for obtaining the best weapons in the game. You can craft weapons at any Blacksmith, typically found in major towns. To craft, you'll need specific materials, which can be obtained from enemies, mining nodes, or by dismantling unwanted equipment.

  • Materials: Common materials include ores (Iron, Copper, Silver), monster parts (Inferno Fangs, Rappig Meat), and other unique items.
  • Devil's Arms: These are exceptionally powerful weapons that require rare materials, often dropped by tough enemies or found in challenging locations. For example, 'Inferno Fangs' are needed for some of Alphen's strongest swords.

Weapon Upgrades and Enhancement

Beyond acquiring new weapons, you can enhance your existing gear through upgrades. This process is also done at the Blacksmith and requires Gald and specific materials. Upgrades increase a weapon's base attack power and can sometimes unlock additional stats or effects.

  • Upgrade Tiers: Weapons typically have multiple upgrade tiers.
  • Material Requirements: Each upgrade level requires increasingly rare and valuable materials.

Best Weapons to Aim For

While specific 'best' weapons can vary based on your current progression and playstyle, always aim for the weapons with the highest base attack power available. For endgame content, the Devil's Arms are generally considered the most powerful weapons for each character due to their exceptional stats and unique properties.

For example:

  • Alphen: 'Sword of the Fallen' or 'Blade of the Demon' (Devil's Arms).
  • Shionne: 'Ruinous Repeater' or 'Seraphic Repeater' (Devil's Arms).

Keep an eye on weapon stats, especially Attack Power, and any special effects they might offer. Regularly visit shops and blacksmiths to ensure your party is equipped with the most formidable weapons available.
