Objective 1: Establish Command Center & Deploy Tempest Nexus (Consolidated Guide)

Welcome, Commander! This consolidated guide covers the critical initial steps for establishing your base in Tempest Rising, regardless of your chosen faction (Global Defense Force or Dynasty) or specific mission parameters. While the visual aesthetics and unit names may differ, the fundamental process of deploying your Mobile Construction Vehicle (MCV) and establishing your core economic and power infrastructure remains consistent.

Your primary objective at the start of almost every mission is to transform your MCV into a fully operational Command Center (GDF) or Tempest Nexus (Dynasty). This structure is the heart of your base, enabling unit production, research, and resource processing. Strategic placement and efficient follow-up construction are paramount for a strong early game.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough: Initial Base Setup

  1. Locate and Deploy Your MCV:

Upon mission start, your Mobile Construction Vehicle (MCV) will be deployed at a pre-determined starting location. This large, tracked vehicle is your most vital asset in the opening moments. It will typically be highlighted or easily identifiable on your minimap.

    • Action: Immediately select your MCV.
    • Action: Click the "Deploy" button (or press the designated hotkey, typically 'D').
    • Placement Strategy:
      • Proximity to Tempest Fields: Prioritize deploying your Command Center/Tempest Nexus as close as possible to a viable Tempest Field. This minimizes travel time for your Harvesters, maximizing resource collection efficiency. Look for the glowing blue/purple crystals on the map.
      • Defensibility: While resource proximity is key, also consider defensibility. Avoid placing your Command Center in an exposed, low-ground position that could be easily overrun by early enemy scouts or rushes. High ground or areas with natural chokepoints are often preferable.
      • Expansion Space: Ensure there's enough clear, flat terrain around your chosen spot for future base expansion, including additional Refineries, Barracks, Factories, and defensive structures.

Once deployed, your MCV will transform into your faction's primary base structure:

    • Dynasty: Tempest Nexus

  2. Establish Power Generation:

Your base structures require power to operate. Without sufficient power, your buildings will function at reduced efficiency or not at all. This is your absolute next priority after deploying your Command Center/Tempest Nexus.

    • Action: Select your newly deployed Command Center/Tempest Nexus.
    • Action: Navigate to the "Structures" build tab.
    • Action: Queue up a Power Plant (GDF) or Generator (Dynasty).
    • Placement Strategy: Place your power structure within your base's build radius. It doesn't need to be adjacent to your Command Center, but keep it reasonably central for future power grid expansion.
    • Common Pitfall: Forgetting to build enough power can cripple your early economy and unit production. Always monitor your power bar (usually displayed in the top-right or bottom-left of the UI). If it's red or low, build more power!
  3. Construct Your First Refinery:

With power production underway, your next critical step is to build a Refinery. This structure is essential for processing raw Tempest crystals into usable resources (credits) that fund all your operations.

    • Action: While your Power Plant/Generator is building, queue up a Refinery (GDF) or Tempest Harvester Bay (Dynasty) from your Command Center/Tempest Nexus.
    • Placement Strategy: Place the Refinery/Harvester Bay as close as possible to the Tempest Field you intend to harvest. The shorter the distance your Harvesters have to travel, the faster you'll generate income.
    • Key Benefit: Once built, your Refinery/Harvester Bay will automatically begin producing your first Harvester.
  4. Deploy Your First Harvester:

Your economy relies entirely on Harvesters collecting Tempest. As soon as your Refinery/Harvester Bay is complete, it will automatically begin constructing a Harvester.

    • Action: Monitor the build queue of your Refinery/Harvester Bay.
    • Action: Once the Harvester (GDF) or Tempest Collector (Dynasty) is complete, it will automatically deploy and begin moving towards the nearest Tempest Field to collect resources.
    • Strategy Tip: If you have multiple Tempest Fields nearby, you can manually direct your Harvester to a specific field by selecting it and right-clicking on the desired Tempest crystals.
    • Expansion: As soon as resources allow, consider building a second Refinery/Harvester Bay or queuing up additional Harvesters from your existing one to rapidly scale your income.

Early Game Resource Management & Strategy Tips

  • Constant Production: Always be building something! Whether it's power, a new resource structure, or your first barracks, idle production facilities represent lost time and resources.
  • Scouting: As soon as you have a basic base, consider building a light scout unit (e.g., GDF Scout Car, Dynasty Drone) to explore the map, locate additional Tempest Fields, and identify potential enemy positions or expansion opportunities.
  • Defensive Posture: While focusing on economy, don't neglect defense. Even a single Watchtower (GDF) or Sentinel Turret (Dynasty) can deter early enemy probes or light attacks.
  • Power Management: Keep an eye on your power supply. As you build more structures and units, your power consumption will increase. Build additional Power Plants/Generators proactively to avoid power shortages.
  • Hotkeys: Learn and utilize hotkeys for building structures and units. This significantly speeds up your gameplay and allows for more efficient multitasking.

By following these consolidated steps, you will establish a robust foundation for your operations in Tempest Rising, setting you up for success in subsequent objectives and engagements.
