Tempest Dynasty Campaign: Mission 1 - The Awakening
Objective 2: Establish Tempest Harvesting & Begin Base Expansion
Welcome, Commander, to the front lines of the Tempest Dynasty! Your first mission, "The Awakening," is crucial for establishing our presence and securing vital Tempest resources. This objective focuses on initiating your Tempest harvesting operations and laying the groundwork for your base's expansion. Unlike the GDF, the Dynasty harnesses the raw power of Tempest directly for construction and unit production. Efficiency and strategic placement are paramount.

Upon mission start, your initial construction yard will be deployed. Your immediate priority is to secure a steady flow of Tempest, the lifeblood of the Dynasty. This objective will guide you through the initial steps of resource acquisition and the construction of your foundational structures.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough:
- Deploy Your Construction Yard: Your Construction Yard is already deployed at the mission start point, typically near a rich Tempest field. Its initial location is usually pre-determined for optimal early game access to resources.
- Construct a Tempest Refinery:
- Action: Immediately open your build menu (default key: 'B') and select the "Tempest Refinery" from the "Resource" tab.
- Placement: Place the Tempest Refinery as close as possible to the densest Tempest field within your initial operational radius. Aim for a spot that minimizes the travel distance for your Harvesters. Look for the glowing blue crystals on the ground – these indicate Tempest deposits. A good starting location is often slightly to the north-east of your initial Construction Yard, near the large cluster of Tempest.
- Cost: 150 Tempest.
- Benefit: The Tempest Refinery is essential for processing raw Tempest into usable resources for construction and unit production.
- Deploy Your First Tempest Harvester:
- Action: Once the Tempest Refinery is under construction, select it and queue up a "Tempest Harvester."
- Cost: 100 Tempest.
- Function: The Harvester will automatically begin collecting raw Tempest from the nearest field and delivering it to your Refinery for processing.
- Critical Tip: Ensure your Harvester is actively collecting. If it's idle, check its pathing or if the nearest field is depleted.
- Queue a Second Tempest Harvester (Optional but Recommended):
- Action: As soon as your Tempest reserves allow (typically after your first Harvester has made a few runs), queue up a second Tempest Harvester from your Refinery.
- Benefit: Doubling your harvesting capacity early on will significantly accelerate your economic growth, allowing for faster base expansion and unit production. This is crucial for maintaining a strategic advantage.
- Construct a Dynasty Barracks:
- Action: Once your Tempest income is stable (around 200-300 Tempest in reserve), open your build menu and select the "Dynasty Barracks" from the "Production" tab.
- Placement: Place the Barracks within your base's perimeter, ideally behind your initial defensive line or near your Construction Yard. Consider future expansion and defensive choke points. A good spot is often slightly west of your Construction Yard, providing a central location for unit deployment.
- Cost: 125 Tempest.
- Benefit: The Dynasty Barracks is vital for training your basic infantry units, which will form the backbone of your early defense and offensive probes.
- Begin Training Dynasty Infantry:
- Action: Once the Dynasty Barracks is complete, select it and begin queuing units.
- Recommended Initial Units:
- 3-4 x Tempest Warriors: These are your bread-and-butter infantry, versatile for early defense and offensive pushes. They are equipped with standard energy rifles.
- 1-2 x Tempest Healers: Crucial for sustaining your infantry. Healers can repair damaged infantry units, significantly increasing their survivability in engagements. Position them behind your Tempest Warriors.
- Cost (per unit):
- Tempest Warrior: 30 Tempest
- Tempest Healer: 40 Tempest
- Strategy: Group your newly trained infantry and position them strategically. An excellent initial defensive posture is to place them at the primary entrance to your base, typically a narrow choke point leading to your Tempest fields, to deter any early GDF scout probes or hostile wildlife.
Resource Management & Early Game Strategy:
- Prioritize Tempest: Always ensure your Harvesters are active and your Tempest income is flowing. A strong economy is the foundation of any successful Dynasty operation.
- Scout for Additional Fields: While your initial fields are sufficient, keep an eye on the mini-map for other Tempest deposits. Expanding to new fields later will be crucial for sustained growth.
- Early Defense: Expect minor skirmishes. The GDF is aware of our presence. Your initial Tempest Warriors and Healers are your first line of defense. Do not overextend them.
- Power Grid: Remember that Dynasty structures require power. Your Construction Yard provides initial power, but as you expand, you will need to construct Tempest Power Generators to maintain operations. Keep an eye on your power indicator in the top right corner of the UI.
Common Pitfalls & How to Avoid Them:
- Idle Harvesters: The most common mistake. Always double-check that your Harvesters are moving and delivering Tempest. If they stop, they might be stuck, or their field might be depleted. Re-task them to a new field or check their path.
- Insufficient Tempest Income: Not building a second Harvester early enough can severely bottleneck your base development. Aim for two Harvesters as quickly as possible.
- Neglecting Infantry: While structures are important, a lack of early infantry can leave your base vulnerable to GDF scouts or aggressive wildlife. Ensure you have a small defensive force.
- Poor Barracks Placement: Placing your Barracks too far from the action can lead to slow reinforcement times. Consider its proximity to potential combat zones or rally points.
By following these steps, you will successfully complete Objective 2, establishing a robust Tempest harvesting operation and laying the groundwork for your Dynasty's dominance on the battlefield. Prepare for the next phase, Commander – the GDF will not stand idly by!
