Athletics Skill Guide
The Athletics skill in Morrowind governs your character's stamina and their ability to run for extended periods without becoming fatigued. A higher Athletics skill means more stamina, allowing you to sprint across Vardenfell without constantly stopping to recover.
Athletics is a fundamental skill for any character who plans to do a lot of traveling on foot. It directly influences your character's Stamina attribute. As your Athletics skill increases, so does your maximum Stamina. This is crucial for exploration, as Stamina is depleted when you sprint. Without sufficient Stamina, you'll find yourself frequently halted, waiting for it to regenerate, which can be particularly frustrating during long journeys or when trying to outrun enemies.
To improve your Athletics skill, you must actively engage in running. The simplest way to train this skill is to simply hold down the sprint key (default 'Shift') and run around. The more you run, the more experience you gain in Athletics. It's advisable to train this skill early in the game, as increased Stamina will benefit you in combat and exploration from the outset.
- Constant Running: The most effective way to train Athletics is to simply run as much as possible.
- Early Training: Focus on increasing Athletics early in the game to benefit from the increased Stamina throughout your playthrough.
- Attribute Synergy: Endurance is the governing attribute for Athletics. Characters with higher Endurance will naturally have more Stamina and may find it easier to train.
- Combat Benefit: More Stamina means you can sprint more in combat to evade attacks or close distances quickly.
- Exploration Benefit: Covering vast distances without frequent stops makes exploring Vardenfell much more efficient.
Investing in Athletics is a straightforward yet highly beneficial choice for any adventurer. The increased Stamina it provides will make your journeys across Vardenfell more fluid and less interrupted, allowing you to focus on the myriad of adventures that await.
