Weapon Skills Guide (Blunt, Long Blade, Short Blade, Axe, Spear, Marksman)
Morrowind features a diverse array of weapon skills, each offering a unique combat style and effectiveness against different foes. Mastering these skills is fundamental to any character's combat prowess, allowing for efficient dispatch of enemies and survival in Vvardenfell's perilous environments. Choosing the right weapon skill can define your character's combat role.
Blunt Weapons encompass maces, hammers, and axes. They are generally slower but can inflict sificant damage and have a chance to stun opponents. Skills like Mace and Hammer are effective for characters who prefer a powerful, direct approach.
Long Blades include swords and greatswords. These are versatile weapons, offering a good balance of speed and damage. They are a popular choice for many warrior archetypes, providing reliable offense in most combat situations. The Long Blade skill governs their effectiveness.
Short Blades, such as daggers and short swords, are fast-striking weapons. They are ideal for characters who rely on quick attacks and critical hits, often favored by stealthy or agile combatants. The Short Blade skill is paramount for maximizing their potential.
Axes, distinct from blunt weapons, offer a good mix of speed and damage. They can be effective against heavily armored foes. The Axe skill governs the proficiency with these weapons.
Spears are longer-reaching weapons that can keep enemies at bay. They offer a tactical advantage in combat, allowing players to strike from a safer distance. The Spear skill dictates their effectiveness.
Marksman skills, primarily Marksman (bows), allow for ranged combat. Bows are excellent for initiating combat, picking off weaker enemies from a distance, or dealing with flying threats. They require ammunition, such as arrows or bolts.
When developing your character, consider how these weapon skills synergize with your chosen attributes and armor types. A character specializing in Long Blades might also benefit from Light Armor and Agility, while a Blunt Weapon user might focus on Strength and Heavy Armor.
