Specializing Your Character Build
Morrowind's character system allows for immense customization, but true mastery often comes from specializing your character build. Focusing on a core set of skills and attributes will create a more potent and efficient adventurer, capable of overcoming the game's toughest challenges.
Specialization means making deliberate choices about your character's strengths and weaknesses. Instead of trying to be proficient in everything, identify a playstyle that appeals to you and invest your resources accordingly. This focused approach will yield the most satisfying results.
- The Spellsword: A hybrid build focusing on both combat skills (e.g., Long Blade, Heavy Armor) and magic schools like Destruction and Restoration. High Intelligence and Willpower are key, along with Strength and Endurance.
- The Stealth Archer: Emphasizes Marksman, Sneak, and Light Armor. Agility and Speed are paramount. This build relies on ranged attacks and avoiding direct confrontation, often utilizing poisons.
- The Master Alchemist/Enchanter: While not a direct combat build, this character focuses on Alchemy and Enchanting skills. High Intelligence is crucial for creating powerful potions and enchantments that can then be used to support any combat style.
- The Pure Mage: Dedicated to mastering the magical arts. Focuses on Intelligence and Willpower, and invests heavily in multiple magic schools like Destruction, Conjuration, and Mysticism.
- The Heavy Warrior: A straightforward build focused on Strength and Endurance, wielding heavy weapons (Blunt, Axe) and wearing Heavy Armor. Block and Armorer skills are essential for survivability.
- The Rogue/Thief: Relies on Sneak, Short Blade, Security, and Speechcraft. Agility and Personality are important. This build excels at infiltration, lockpicking, and social manipulation.
When specializing, consider your chosen race and births, as they provide starting bonuses that can al with your desired build. Don't neglect secondary skills that can complement your primary focus; for example, a warrior might benefit from Restoration, and a mage might find Mysticism useful for utility spells.
