Shacks & Huts
Scattered across the diverse landscapes of Morrowind are humble shacks and rudimentary huts. These often overlooked structures can hold surprising secrets, offering respite, hidden stashes of loot, or serving as the starting point for intriguing quests. Exploring these humble abodes is a key part of uncovering the world's hidden corners.
These dwellings range from simple fisherman's huts along the coast to nomadic Ashlander shelters in the interior. While they may not possess the grandeur of cities or forts, their inhabitants and contents can be just as sificant. Some may be occupied by friendly NPCs offering aid or information, while others might be home to bandits or dangerous creatures.
Types of Shacks and Huts:
- Fisherman's Huts: Often found near the coasts or rivers, these are typically small, single-room structures. They might contain fishing gear, basic supplies, and sometimes small amounts of gold or valuable seafood.
- Ashlander Camps: Nomadic Ashlander tribes set up temporary camps consisting of tents and simple huts. These locations are crucial for interacting with Ashlander culture, trading for unique goods, and undertaking quests related to their traditions.
- Bandit Hideouts: Some shacks and huts serve as makeshift bases for bandits and smugglers. These are often dangerous but can yield stolen goods, weapons, armor, and gold.
- Hermit Dwellings: Solitary individuals, often with unique knowledge or skills, may reside in isolated shacks. These can be sources of rare information, alchemical ingredients, or even unique quests.
- Abandoned Structures: Some shacks appear abandoned, but may still contain forgotten treasures or serve as temporary shelters for creatures.
What to Look For:
- Containers: Chests, crates, and barrels within these structures can hold valuable items, gold, food, or alchemical ingredients.
- Notes and Journals: These can provide clues to hidden stashes, lore information, or quest objectives.
- Unique Items: Occasionally, a shack might contain a unique piece of equipment or a rare artifact.
- NPCs: Friendly NPCs can offer services, trade, or provide quests. Hostile NPCs will need to be dealt with.
When exploring shacks and huts, always be cautious. Even the smallest dwelling can harbor a surprise. Use your Sneak skill to scout ahead if possible, and be prepared for combat. The rewards, though often modest, can be sificant when accumulated over time.
