Oblivion features eight distinct spell schools, each with its own unique set of effects and applications. Understanding these schools is fundamental to effective spellcasting and character development. You can learn new spells from merchants, trainers, and by finding spell tomes throughout the world. The effectiveness of a spell is determined by the caster's skill in the relevant school and their Magicka pool.
