Small Key Locations
Navigating Hyrule's dungeons often requires a collection of Small Keys to unlock various doors and progress. This section meticulously details the location of every Small Key within each dungeon, ensuring you never get stuck searching for that elusive unlock.
Deku Tree
- Small Key #1: After defeating the first Gohma Larva in the main room, climb the vines to the upper level. Head left and drop into the hole. Defeat the two Deku Babas here to make a treasure chest appear containing the key.
- Small Key #2: In the room with the giant Deku Baba, use your Slingshot to stun it, then defeat it with your sword. The chest containing this key will appear.
- Small Key #3: Once you've activated the switch by pushing the block into the water, swim across to the platform on the other side. Climb the ladder and open the chest.
Dodongo's Cavern
- Small Key #1: From the entrance, head straight and push the block into the lava pit to create a bridge. Cross it and defeat the two Lizalfos. A chest will appear with the key.
- Small Key #2: In the room with the rolling boulders, navigate to the far side. Use a Bomb to destroy the cracked wall. Inside, defeat the two Dodongos to reveal the chest.
- Small Key #3: After lighting all the torches in the main cavern to open the central passage, proceed through. In the next room, climb the ledges and defeat the Armos. The key is in the chest it leaves behind.
- Small Key #4: In the room with the large central platform that can be raised and lowered, raise the platform and stand on it. Look for a ledge with a chest. Jump to it to claim the key.
Jabu-Jabu's Belly
- Small Key #1: After entering Jabu-Jabu's Belly, head right. You'll find a switch on the floor. Step on it to open a door. Inside, defeat the two Biri to make a chest appear.
- Small Key #2: In the room where you need to drop the Zora's Sapphire, look for a platform with a Tektite. Defeat it and the chest containing the key will materialize.
- Small Key #3: Once you've brought Ruto to the higher platform, she will stand on a switch. This opens a door to a room with a Like Like. Defeat the Like Like to get the key.
Forest Temple
- Small Key #1: In the main room with the twisted hallway, head to the northwest door. Inside, defeat the two Stalfos to make a chest appear.
- Small Key #2: After activating the first "eye switch" to untwist a section of the hallway, go through the newly accessible door. In this room, defeat the two Blue Bubbles. The key is in the chest.
- Small Key #3: In the room with the four Poe Sisters, defeat the first Poe Sister (Joelle) to get this key.
- Small Key #4: After untwisting the second section of the hallway, proceed to the room with the large block puzzle. Push the block into the hole to reveal a hidden passage. Follow it to a chest.
- Small Key #5: In the room with the well, use the Hookshot to reach the platform above. Defeat the Wallmaster that drops down to earn the final key for this dungeon.
Fire Temple
- Small Key #1: From the entrance, head right and climb the fence. Follow the path to a room with a switch. Step on it to open a cell containing a Goron and a chest with the key.
- Small Key #2: On the second floor, in the room with the rolling boulders, navigate to the far side. Use a Bomb to destroy the cracked wall. Inside, defeat the two Flare Dancers to reveal the chest.
- Small Key #3: On the third floor, you'll find a Goron trapped in a cage. Step on the nearby switch to free him, and he'll reward you with a key.
- Small Key #4: On the fourth floor, in the room with the fire jets, time your movements carefully to reach a platform with a chest.
- Small Key #5: On the fifth floor, after navigating the tricky platforms, you'll find another Goron trapped. Free him by stepping on the switch, and he'll give you a key.
- Small Key #6: On the sixth floor, in the room with the large central pillar, use the Megaton Hammer to hit the switch on the ground. This will open a cell with a chest.
- Small Key #7: On the seventh floor, after defeating the two Dodongos, a chest will appear containing the final Small Key for the Fire Temple.
Water Temple
- Small Key #1: In the central pillar room, set the water level to its lowest point. Dive into the central pit and swim through the underwater tunnel to a room with a chest.
- Small Key #2: From the central pillar room, with the water at its lowest, enter the door on the ground floor. Navigate the underwater passage to a room with a Spiked Roller. Defeat it to make a chest appear.
- Small Key #3: Raise the water level to the middle. In the central pillar room, Hookshot to the target on the wall. Follow the path to a room with a switch. Activate it to open a gate leading to a chest.
- Small Key #4: Raise the water level to the highest point. In the central pillar room, Hookshot to the target on the highest platform. Enter the door and defeat the two Darknuts to reveal the chest.
- Small Key #5: In the room with the moving platforms, carefully jump across to reach a platform with a chest.
Shadow Temple
- Small Key #1: In the main room with the invisible platforms, use the Lens of Truth to navigate to the far side. Defeat the two Gibdos to make a chest appear.
- Small Key #2: In the room with the spinning scythes, activate the invisible switch with the Lens of Truth. This opens a door to a small room with a chest.
- Small Key #3: After destroying the Bongo Bongo's hand statue, a passage will open. Follow it to a room with a Like Like. Defeat it to get the key.
- Small Key #4: In the room with the invisible blades, use the Lens of Truth to avoid them and reach a chest on the far side.
- Small Key #5: After falling through the fake floor, defeat the two ReDeads in the room below. A chest will appear.
Spirit Temple
- Small Key #1 (Young Link): As Young Link, in the main room, climb the vines on the right wall. Follow the path to a room with a switch. Step on it to open a door to a chest.
- Small Key #2 (Young Link): In the room with the Armos statues, activate the switch to open a gate. Inside, defeat the two Anubis to make a chest appear.
- Small Key #3 (Adult Link): As Adult Link, in the main room, use the Hookshot to reach the higher platform. Enter the door and defeat the two Iron Knuckles to reveal the chest.
- Small Key #4 (Adult Link): After solving the mirror puzzle to light the sun switch, a door will open. Inside, defeat the two Lizalfos to get the key.
- Small Key #5 (Adult Link): In the room with the rolling boulders, use the Megaton Hammer to destroy the cracked wall. Inside, defeat the two Torch Slugs to reveal the chest.
