Post-Game Activities
Congratulations, hero! You've vanquished Onox and restored the seasons to Holodrum. While the main quest is complete, your adventure doesn't have to end here. Oracle of Seasons offers a wealth of post-game content, from collecting every last item to preparing for a Linked Game with Oracle of Ages.
Collect All Rings
There are 64 unique Rings to discover in Holodrum, each offering different effects or simply serving as collector's items. Many are found throughout your journey, but several require dedicated searching after defeating Onox. Here's how to track down some of the more elusive ones:
- Gasha Rings: Plant Gasha Seeds in soft soil spots across Holodrum. The quality of the soil (indicated by its color) and the number of enemies defeated since the last harvest can influence the rarity of the Ring you receive. Keep planting and harvesting until you've found them all. Some notable Gasha spots include:
- East of Horon Village, near the entrance to the Eastern Suburbs.
- North of Sunken City, accessible by swimming.
- In the Western Woods, near the entrance to the Spool Swamp.
- Maple's Rings: Continuously bump into Maple (the witch's apprentice) by defeating enemies. She appears after every 30 enemies defeated. Each time you collide, items will scatter, and there's a chance a new Ring will be among them. This can be a grind, so find an area with easily defeated enemies (like the screen south of Horon Village with many Octoroks) and cycle through seasons to respawn them quickly.
- Shop Rings: The Horon Village Shop occasionally stocks new Rings after certain story progression points or after you've collected a significant number of other Rings. Check back frequently, especially after completing dungeons.
- Specific Location Rings:
- Peace Ring: Found in a chest in the Great Moblin's Keep after defeating him. If you missed it, return to the Keep.
- Power Ring L-3: This powerful Ring is found in a chest within the Hero's Cave, located in the Western Woods. You'll need the Roc's Cape to navigate some of the gaps.
- Cursed Ring: Speak to the man in the house in North Horon, just east of the entrance to the Northern Peak. He'll give it to you. Be warned, it has a negative effect!
Acquire All Heart Pieces
There are 16 Heart Pieces scattered across Holodrum, each adding a quarter of a heart to your life meter. If you haven't already, now is the time to track down any you missed. A full Heart Container is a valuable asset, especially for a Linked Game.
- Subrosia Market: Check the Subrosia Market regularly. Sometimes, a Heart Piece will be available for purchase for 200 Ore Chunks.
- Mini-Games:
- Target Carts: In the Eastern Suburbs, play the Target Carts mini-game. Achieve a high score to earn a Heart Piece.
- Dance Hall: In Horon Village, participate in the Dance Hall mini-game. Successfully complete the dance routine to earn a Heart Piece.
- Hidden Locations: Many Heart Pieces are hidden behind puzzles or require specific items. Review your map and look for suspicious areas. For example:
- Use the Magnetic Gloves to cross a gap in the Western Woods to reach a Heart Piece.
- Burn a specific tree in the Eastern Suburbs (using the Rod of Seasons with Summer) to reveal a hidden cave with a Heart Piece.
- Bomb a cracked wall in the Samasa Desert to uncover a secret passage leading to a Heart Piece.
Complete the Trading Sequence
If you haven't finished the lengthy trading sequence, now is the perfect time. This chain of trades ultimately rewards you with the Noble Sword, a powerful upgrade to your standard sword. The sequence begins with the Wooden Sword and involves numerous characters across Holodrum:
- Wooden Sword: Start with this.
- Gnarled Key: Give the Wooden Sword to the Old Man in the cave in North Horon.
- Poe Clock: Use the Gnarled Key to open the locked door in the cave in the Western Woods. Inside, you'll find a Poe. Give him the Gnarled Key for the Poe Clock.
- Stationary: Give the Poe Clock to the Postman in Horon Village.
- Stump: Give the Stationary to the girl in the house in the Eastern Suburbs.
- Dumbbell: Give the Stump to the Strongman in the house in Sunken City.
- Cheesy Mustache: Give the Dumbbell to the man in the house in the Samasa Desert.
- Towel: Give the Cheesy Mustache to the woman in the house in the Western Woods.
- Iron Pot: Give the Towel to the Chef in the house in Subrosia.
- Lava Soup: Give the Iron Pot to the Subrosian in the Subrosia Market.
- Swordsman's Scroll: Give the Lava Soup to the old man in the cave in the Northern Peak.
- Noble Sword: Give the Swordsman's Scroll to the Master Swordsman in the cave in the Western Woods. He will upgrade your sword to the Noble Sword.
Prepare for a Linked Game (Oracle of Ages)
One of the most exciting post-game activities is linking your save file with Oracle of Ages. This unlocks a new adventure with additional content, including a true final boss. To prepare:
- Get a Secret: After defeating Onox, speak to the Maku Tree in Horon Village. She will give you a "Secret" (a password) that you can use to start a Linked Game in Oracle of Ages. Write this down carefully!
- Collect Everything: The more items, Heart Containers, and Rings you have in Oracle of Seasons, the more advantages you'll carry over into your Linked Game. Max out your health, collect all the Rings you can, and ensure you have the Noble Sword.
- Consider a Second Playthrough: If you're a completionist, you might consider playing through Oracle of Seasons again to experience the game with a different Animal Companion (Moosh, Ricky, or Dimitri) or to try a "Hero's Secret" (a password from Oracle of Ages that starts a new game in Seasons with certain benefits).
