Surface Dwellers
Bokoblin (Red)
- Habitat: Faron Woods, Eldin Volcano, Lanayru Desert, Skyloft (rarely).
- Description: The most common enemy you'll encounter. These red-skinned goblins wield several weapons, including clubs, swords, and even bows. They often appear in groups.
- Attack Patterns:
- Melee: Swings their weapon in a horizontal or vertical arc.
- Charge: Some will charge directly at Link, attempting to bash him.
- Archery: Bow-wielding Bokoblins will fire arrows from a distance.
- Strategy:
- Melee Bokoblins: Observe the direction of their weapon swing. If they hold their club horizontally, slash vertically. If held vertically, slash horizontally. A well-timed Shield Bash (raise shield and flick the Joy-Con/Pro Controller forward) can stun them, leaving them open for a flurry of attacks.
- Archery Bokoblins: Prioritize these from a distance with your Slingshot or Bow. If close, a Shield Bash will deflect their arrows back at them, often stunning or defeating them instantly.
- Groups: Use Spin Attacks (shake both Joy-Cons/Pro Controller) to hit multiple enemies. The Gust Bellows can also disorient them temporarily.
- Drops: Bokoblin Horn, Ornamental Skull, Monster Claw.
Green ChuChu
- Habitat: Faron Woods, Skyloft, various caves.
- Description: A gelatinous, green blob that bounces around. They are relatively slow but can be surprisingly annoying in groups.
- Attack Patterns:
- Body Slam: Attempts to jump and land on Link.
- Absorption: If Link gets too close, they might try to absorb him, dealing continuous damage until he breaks free.
- Strategy:
- Sword: Slash them repeatedly. They will split into smaller ChuChus. Continue slashing the smaller ones until they are all defeated.
- Bomb: A well-placed Bomb (found in Bomb Flowers or purchased from Rupin) will instantly defeat a large ChuChu and its smaller counterparts.
- Whip: The Whip can be used to stun them briefly, allowing for easier sword strikes.
- Drops: ChuChu Jelly.
Deku Baba
- Habitat: Faron Woods, Skyloft (near forested areas).
- Description: Carnivorous plant-like enemies that resemble large, snapping flowers. They are often found rooted to the ground or hanging from vines.
- Attack Patterns:
- Bite: Snaps its jaws at Link if he gets too close.
- Spit: Some varieties can spit projectiles.
- Strategy:
- Rooted Deku Baba: Wait for it to open its mouth wide, then perform a horizontal sword slash to cut its stem. If it's closed, a vertical slash will often cause it to open.
- Hanging Deku Baba: Use a horizontal sword slash to cut the vine it's hanging from. Alternatively, use the Slingshot to hit its head, causing it to drop.
- Whip: The Whip can be used to pull the Deku Baba's head towards Link, making it easier to land a precise sword strike.
- Drops: Deku Baba Seed, Deku Baba Stem.
Stalfos
- Habitat: Earth Temple, Ancient Cistern, Sandship.
- Description: Reanimated skeletons that wield large swords or clubs. They are more resilient than Bokoblins and require precise timing.
- Attack Patterns:
- Sword Swings: Performs wide, powerful swings with their weapon.
- Shield Block: Often blocks attacks with their bone shield or weapon.
- Leap Attack: Some Stalfos will leap towards Link for an overhead attack.
- Strategy:
- Single Stalfos: Observe their guard. They will often leave a small opening (top, bottom, left, or right). Slash precisely into that opening. A well-timed Shield Bash can also stun them, leaving them vulnerable.
- Dual-Wielding Stalfos: These are more challenging. They will block most direct attacks. The key is to wait for them to attack, then quickly counter-attack into the opening they create. The Spin Attack can sometimes break their guard.
- Bombs: A Bomb can knock a Stalfos off balance, creating an opportunity for several sword strikes.
- Whip: While not directly damaging, the Whip can sometimes disarm a Stalfos or pull away its shield, exposing it.
- Drops: Monster Bone, Evil Crystal.
Flying Foes
Keese
- Habitat: Faron Woods, Eldin Volcano, Lanayru Desert, various caves and dungeons.
- Description: Bat-like creatures that fly erratically. They are weak but can be annoying in large numbers.
- Attack Patterns:
- Dive Bomb: Flies towards Link and attempts to ram him.
- Strategy:
- Sword: A single, well-aimed sword slash will defeat a Keese. Use horizontal or vertical slashes depending on its flight path.
- Slingshot: One shot from the Slingshot will take down a Keese.
- Bow: Similarly, a single arrow is effective.
- Whip: The Whip can be used to swat them out of the air.
- Shield Bash: A Shield Bash can deflect them if they get too close.
- Drops: Monster Claw.
Fire Keese

- Description: Keese engulfed in flames. They behave similarly to regular Keese but will ignite Link if they touch him.
- Attack Patterns:
- Incendiary Dive Bomb: Attempts to ram Link, setting him on fire and dealing continuous damage.
- Strategy:
- Prioritize: Deal with these quickly to avoid being set on fire.
- Slingshot/Bow: The safest method is to shoot them down from a distance.
- Sword: If using the sword, be quick and precise. A single hit will defeat them.
- Shield Bash: A Shield Bash will deflect them and extinguish their flames, defeating them.
- Water: If you are near a body of water, rolling into it will extinguish the flames.
- Drops: Monster Claw, Fire Keese Wing.
Thunder Keese
- Habitat: Lanayru Desert, Sandship.
- Description: Keese crackling with electricity. They will shock Link upon contact, temporarily paralyzing him.
- Attack Patterns:
- Electric Dive Bomb: Attempts to ram Link, dealing damage and paralyzing him.
- Strategy:
- Prioritize: These are dangerous in groups as they can leave you vulnerable to other attacks.
- Slingshot/Bow: The safest method is to shoot them down from a distance.
- Sword: If using the sword, be quick and precise. A single hit will defeat them.
- Shield Bash: A Shield Bash will deflect them and dissipate their electricity, defeating them.
- Drops: Monster Claw, Thunder Keese Wing.
Aquatic Adversaries
Froak
- Habitat: Faron Woods (water areas), Ancient Cistern.
- Description: Large, aggressive frog-like creatures that inhabit water. They can also hop onto land for short periods.
- Attack Patterns:
- Tongue Lash: Extends a long tongue to grab Link, pulling him in for a bite.
- Body Slam: Jumps and attempts to crush Link.
- Strategy:
- Tongue Lash: If caught by the tongue, rapidly shake the Joy-Cons/Pro Controller to break free.
- Sword: When on land, slash at their body. In water, you'll need to swim close and use a horizontal slash.
- Bow: Arrows are effective against them, especially when they are on land.

- Jump Attack: Leaps into the air and slams its blade down.
- Armored Guard: Their armored arm can block most frontal attacks.
- Strategy:
- Target the Opening: Lizalfos have a heavily armored arm that blocks most frontal attacks. You must strike their unarmored side. Wait for them to attack, then quickly dodge and slash at their exposed flank.
- Spin Attack: A well-timed Spin Attack can sometimes hit their exposed side even if they are guarding.
- Shield Bash: A Shield Bash can momentarily stun them, creating a small window for an attack.
- Bomb: Throwing a Bomb at a Lizalfos can knock it off balance, allowing for a few free hits.
- Whip: The Whip can be used to briefly disorient them, but it's not a primary offensive tool against them.
- Drops: Lizalfos Tail, Lizalfos Talon, Evil Crystal.
Technoblin
- Habitat: Lanayru Mining Facility, Sandship.
- Description: Bokoblins equipped with advanced ancient technology, making them more dangerous than their standard counterparts. They often have electrified weapons or shields.
- Attack Patterns:
- Electrified Weapon: Their weapons can shock Link upon contact, dealing damage and paralyzing him.
- Energy Shield: Some carry shields that deflect most attacks.
- Energy Blast: Certain variants can fire energy projectiles.
- Strategy:
- Electrified Weapons: Treat these like regular Bokoblins, but be extra careful to avoid their attacks. A Shield Bash is highly effective, as it will often short-circuit their weapon or stun them.
- Energy Shield: These shields are impenetrable to direct sword attacks. You must either get behind them (using the Gust Bellows to push them, or rolling past them) or use a Bomb to break their guard. Once their shield is down, they are vulnerable.
- Energy Blasts: Deflect these with your Shield Bash back at them, or dodge out of the way.
- Drops: Ancient Gear, Amber Relic, Monster Claw.
