Welcome, aspiring collector! The Figurine collection in The Minish Cap is a delightful, albeit sometimes challenging, side quest that rewards persistence and a keen eye for Kinstone Fusions. There are 130 unique Figurines to collect, each representing a character, enemy, or item from the game. Completing this collection is a true testament to your mastery of Hyrule!

The Figurine Shop: Carlov's Studio

Your journey begins and ends at Carlov's Studio, located in Hyrule Town, just east of the shoe shop. Carlov, the eccentric sculptor, is the man responsible for crafting these miniature masterpieces. However, he doesn't just hand them out; you'll need to provide him with a steady supply of Mysterious Shells.

Location: Hyrule Town, east side.
Cost: Each attempt to get a Figurine costs 10 Mysterious Shells.
Mechanism: Carlov operates a gashapon-style machine. You insert 10 Mysterious Shells, and a Figurine pops out. The catch? You might get a duplicate!

Mysterious Shells: Your Currency

Mysterious Shells are the lifeblood of your Figurine collection. You'll need thousands of them to complete the set, as duplicates are common. Here are the best ways to acquire them:

Enemy Drops: Many enemies, especially later in the game, will occasionally drop Mysterious Shells. Focus on areas with high enemy density.
Grass and Pots: Cut down grass and smash pots whenever you see them. While not as reliable as enemy drops, they can add up over time.
Chests: Some chests contain large quantities of Mysterious Shells. Keep an eye out for these, especially in dungeons.
Kinstone Fusions: Certain Kinstone Fusions will reveal chests containing Mysterious Shells. Prioritize these fusions if you're low.
Minigames: The Cucco Ranch minigame in Lon Lon Ranch can be a decent source of shells if you're good at it, though it's more for Rupees.
The Best Farming Spot: Once you gain access to the Royal Valley, specifically the area near the graveyard, you'll find an abundance of Poe enemies. These enemies frequently drop Mysterious Shells, and with the Lantern, you can quickly dispatch them. Repeatedly entering and exiting the area will respawn them, making this an excellent farming location.

The Kinstone Fusion Connection

This is where the Figurine collection gets truly interesting. Many Figurines are unlocked not by random chance at Carlov's, but by successfully completing specific Kinstone Fusions. Without these fusions, the corresponding Figurines will simply not appear in Carlov's machine, no matter how many shells you spend.

General Strategy:

Fuse Everything: Make it a habit to fuse Kinstones with every NPC you encounter. Many seemingly minor fusions can unlock a Figurine.
Check Your Kinstone Bag: Regularly check your Kinstone Bag to see which Kinstones you have. This can help you remember who you still need to fuse with.
Explore New Areas: As you progress through the main story and unlock new areas, new NPCs and Kinstone Fusion opportunities will become available.
Talk to Everyone: Some Kinstone Fusions only become available after certain story events or after talking to an NPC multiple times.

Late Game and Post-Game Figurines

Many of the more obscure or boss-related Figurines will only become available after defeating the respective boss or completing significant story segments. Some require a chain of Kinstone Fusions to unlock.

Vaati (all forms): These Figurines will unlock after you defeat each of Vaati's forms in the Dark Hyrule Castle.
Octorok: Available after encountering an Octorok in the Overworld.

All Minish: Each type of Minish (Forest, Mountain, Town) has a Figurine. These typically unlock after you've visited their respective villages.

The Reward for Completion

Once you've collected all 130 Figurines, return to Carlov's Studio. He will be incredibly impressed by your dedication. Your reward for this monumental task is the Carlov's Medal. This special item doesn't have a direct in-game effect, but it serves as the ultimate proof of your collecting prowess and unlocks a special room in Carlov's Studio where you can view your entire collection.

Tips for Efficient Collection

Save Before Spending: Always save your game before spending a large amount of Mysterious Shells at Carlov's. If you get too many duplicates, you can soft reset and try again.
Keep a Checklist: While the game tracks your Figurines, a physical or digital checklist can help you identify which ones you're missing and which Kinstone Fusions you still need to pursue.
Prioritize Kinstone Fusions: Don't waste shells on random pulls if you know there are still Kinstone Fusions to be made. Unlock those first to expand the pool of available Figurines.
