Exotic Royal Pets

The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy introduces a menagerie of exotic pets fit for royalty, adding a unique layer of prestige and companionship to your noble households. Beyond common cats and dogs, Sims can acquire and care for creatures like miniature griffins, enchanted owls, and even small, docile dragons. These pets are not merely decorative; they possess unique traits and can offer various benefits to their owners. Miniature griffins, for instance, can be trained to deliver messages across the kingdom, a vital service for maintaining communication between noble houses or even with the monarch. Their training requires a high Animal Handling Skill, and successful training can unlock the Deliver Message interaction, which has a cooldown of 4 Sim hours. Enchanted owls, known for their wisdom, can assist Sims in their scholarly pursuits. By having an owl in the household, Sims may gain a small boost to their Logic Skill gain when studying, and can occasionally receive cryptic but helpful advice related to current kingdom affairs or even dynasty challenges. Small dragons, while requiring careful management due to their fiery nature, can provide warmth during cold nights and even assist in certain crafting processes, such as forging small trinkets if the Sim possesses the Blacksmithing Skill. Acquiring these exotic pets often involves special quests or purchasing them from exclusive merchants found in the Royal Bazaar or the Mystic Menagerie, with prices ranging from 1,500 Simoleons for a young owl to upwards of 5,000 Simoleons for a dragon hatchling. Each exotic pet has specific needs that must be met. Griffins require a specialized perch and a diet of small game, while dragons need a heat source and a diet of fire-resistant foods. Failure to meet these needs can result in the pet becoming unhappy, potentially leading to negative moodlets for the owner or even the pet becoming ill, requiring a visit to the Royal Veterinarian. Some rare exotic pets, like the legendary Phoenix, might even offer a chance for a Sim to be resurrected if they perish, though this is an extremely rare event with a cooldown of 7 Sim days.
