Basic Controls & User Interface (UI) — The Sims 4 Guide

The Sims 4 features a revamped item collection system, making it a larger aspect of the game and linking various aspirations to it. The Household Collections interface, found in the upper right corner of a Sim's inventory (indicated by a diamond), allows players to track collected items. The Curator aspiration focuses heavily on collecting crystals, fossils, frogs, and elements.

General collecting tips for rocks and plants:

  • Collecting Starts at Home: Check around homes in your own Neighborhood for spawners before exploring other areas. These may respawn by the time you return.
  • Pause the Game: When searching for collectibles like rocks and plants, pause the game. This allows you to scan the borders and middle of an area without your Sim aging, helping you spot spawners that might be hidden by trees, bushes, or houses.
  • Rocks: Digging in rocks scattered around neighborhoods can yield metals, crystals, time capsules (containing MySims trophies), and fossils.
  • Frogs: Frogs can be collected by searching fishing spots in Magnolia Blossom Park and Desert Bloom Park, or from moss-covered logs and old wells.
  • Selling Collectibles: Sims with the "Appraiser" aspiration reward trait can sell collectibles such as metals, crystals, elements, and fossils to the Simsonian Museum for extra money.
