Post-Game Activities & New Game+
Congratulations, Tourist! You've survived the horrors of New Orleans, faced down the Tower and the Reclaimed, and perhaps even made some tough choices along the way. But the journey doesn't end with the credits rolling. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offers a robust post-game experience and the challenge of New Game+ to keep you scavenging, crafting, and fighting for survival.
Post-Game Exploration & Resource Management
Even after completing the main story, the world of New Orleans remains open. This is your chance to truly master resource management and explore every nook and cranny you might have missed.
- Scavenging Runs: Continue to visit all previously accessible zones. Key areas like Via Corolla (for abundant food and medicine) and The Ward (for high-tier crafting materials like Gunpowder and Electrical Parts) remain prime targets. check less-frequented spots like Old Town and Bywater for unique weapon parts and rare crafting components.
- Crafting Mastery: With the pressure of the main story lifted, focus on crafting every weapon, tool, and upgrade available at your crafting benches. Aim for a full arsenal of max-tier weapons like the Lever-Action Rifle, Nova 1014 Shotgun, and the devastating Katana. Don't neglect utility items like the Advanced Bandage and Herbal Medicine.
- Tower & Reclaimed Encounters: Factions will continue to patrol and engage in skirmishes. Use these opportunities to hone your combat skills, test new weapon loadouts, and gather additional supplies from fallen enemies. Remember, faction members often carry valuable Faction Tokens.
- Hidden Collectibles: If you haven't already, dedicate time to finding all the hidden collectibles, including the various Tourist's Journals and Recipe Blueprints scattered across the city. Many of these provide valuable lore insights or unlock powerful new crafting options.
- The Reserve: Revisit the Reserve under the church. While the main objective is complete, there are still lingering walkers and potential hidden stashes of supplies if you're thorough.
The Trial (Survival Mode)
For those seeking an endless challenge, "The Trial" is your arena. Accessible from the main menu, this wave-based survival mode pits you against increasingly difficult hordes of walkers and human enemies.
Accessing The Trial:
- From the main menu, select "The Trial."
- Choose your starting weapon loadout and any perks you wish to activate (these are unlocked through progression in The Trial itself).
Strategies for The Trial:
- Resource Management is Key: Unlike the main campaign, resources are finite and must be scavenged between waves. Prioritize high-damage weapons and efficient melee tools.
- Environmental Awareness: Use the environment to your advantage. Lure walkers into choke points, use explosive barrels, and climb to elevated positions for tactical advantages.
- Perk Selection: Experiment with different perks. "Bulletproof Vest" can significantly increase your survivability, while "Scavenger" helps maintain your ammunition supply.
- Weapon Prioritization: Early waves can be handled with melee weapons like the National Guard Knife or Fire Axe to conserve ammo. As waves progress, transition to firearms like the 9mm Pistol and eventually the AR-47 or Lever-Action Rifle for crowd control.
- Healing: Always keep a few Bandages or Herbal Medicine on hand. Healing opportunities are scarce, so make them count.
New Game+
Ready to experience the story again with all your hard-earned progress? New Game+ allows you to restart the campaign while retaining many of your previous accomplishments.
Initiating New Game+:
- After completing the main story, return to the main menu.
- Select "New Game+" from the options.
- Confirm your choice. You will begin a new playthrough from the start of the campaign.
What Carries Over:
- Crafting Recipes: All blueprints you've discovered and unlocked at the crafting benches will be available from the start.
- Crafting Materials: Your entire inventory of crafting materials (Scrap, Gunpowder, Electrical Parts, etc.) will transfer over. This allows for immediate access to high-tier weapons and upgrades.
- Weapon Upgrades: Any weapon upgrades you've applied to your crafting recipes will be retained.
- Stash Contents: All items stored in your bus's stash will be available. This means you can start with a fully loaded arsenal of your favorite weapons.
What Does NOT Carry Over:
- Story Progress: You will restart the main narrative from the beginning.
- Faction Reputations: Your standing with the Tower and the Reclaimed will reset.
- Explored Areas: All map areas will be "fogged" again, requiring you to re-explore them.
- Consumables (outside of stash): Any consumables you had on your person at the end of the previous playthrough will be lost unless stored in your bus's stash.
New Game+ Strategies:
- Early Game Dominance: With access to powerful weapons and upgrades from the start, you can tackle early game threats with ease. Consider bringing a Lever-Action Rifle or Nova 1014 Shotgun on your very first scavenging run to Via Corolla.
- Experiment with Choices: Use New Game+ to explore different narrative paths and make alternative choices during key story moments. See how your decisions impact the factions and the overall outcome.
- Speedrunning Potential: For experienced players, New Game+ offers the perfect opportunity to attempt speedruns or challenge yourself to complete the campaign with specific weapon restrictions.
- Complete Missed Objectives: If you missed any side quests, collectibles, or optional encounters during your first playthrough, New Game+ is the ideal time to go back and complete them with the advantage of your full arsenal.
