Economy and Currency
Navigating the economy and understanding the various currencies in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is essential for equipping your Rejects with the best gear and ensuring their survival on the hostile world of Tertium. The game features a multi-layered economic system that rewards players for their efforts and provides clear pathways for progression and customization.
The primary in-game currency you'll encounter is Ordo Creds. These are earned by completing missions, fulfilling secondary objectives, and selling unwanted items. Ordo Creds are used for several purposes, including purchasing new weapons and gear from the Armoury, upgrading existing equipment at the Forge, and acquiring cosmetic items. The more missions you complete and the higher the difficulty, the more Ordo Creds you will accumulate.
Another crucial element of the economy is Plasteel. This is a crafting material that is vital for upgrading your weapons and gear at the Forge. Plasteel is found scattered throughout missions, often in desated resource nodes, or awarded upon mission completion. Different tiers of Plasteel might exist, with rarer variants required for higher-level upgrades. Prioritizing the collection of Plasteel during missions, especially on higher difficulties, will sificantly speed up your gear progression.
Diamantine is another essential crafting material, often used in conjunction with Plasteel for more advanced upgrades and for rerolling weapon perks and blessings at the Forge. Like Plasteel, Diamantine is found within missions and awarded as mission completion rewards. Its scarcity often makes it a more valuable commodity, so keep an eye out for it.
Beyond these core currencies and materials, Darktide also features Aquilas. These are premium currency, typically purchased with real-world money. Aquilas are primarily used for acquiring exclusive cosmetic items, such as unique armor sets, weapon skins, and character customizations, from the premium shop. While they do not directly impact gameplay or power, they allow players to personalize their Rejects and showcase their dedication to the Imperium.
The Commissary is where you'll spend most of your Ordo Creds, browsing a rotating selection of weapons and gear. The Armoury Exchange offers a more curated selection of higher-tier items. The Forge is where Plasteel and Diamantine are put to use, allowing you to enhance the stats of your weapons and armor, or even reroll their special properties. Understanding the flow of these resources – earning Creds, collecting materials, and knowing where to spend them – is fundamental to building a powerful and well-equipped squad.
