New Game + and Premium Adventure

Congratulations, kyodai! You've successfully navigated the turbulent waters of Kamurocho and Sotenbori and reached the conclusion of Kiryu and Majima's epic tale. But the journey doesn't have to end there. Yakuza 0 offers two distinct post-game options to extend your experience: New Game + and Premium Adventure. Each provides unique opportunities to revisit the world, complete unfinished business, and challenge yourself further.

New Game + (NG+)

New Game + allows you to restart the main story from the beginning while carrying over a significant portion of your progress from your completed save file. This is an excellent option for players looking to experience the narrative again with enhanced abilities, tackle higher difficulties, or mop up any remaining trophies or completion list items that require story progression.

What Carries Over:
  • Money: All your hard-earned Yen will transfer, making early-game purchases and investments a breeze.
  • Abilities & Upgrades: All unlocked abilities for Kiryu and Majima, including their respective fighting styles (Brawler, Rush, Beast, Thug, Slugger, Breaker) and the Legend styles (Dragon of Dojima, Mad Dog of Shimano), will be available from the start.
  • Equipment & Items: All weapons, armor, accessories, and consumable items in your inventory will carry over. This includes powerful gear like the Dragon Mail or Sacred Wood Armor, which can trivialize early combat encounters.
  • Completion List Progress: Any completed tasks on your Completion List (e.g., minigames, substories, food items eaten) will remain checked off. However, some story-gated completion items will need to be re-earned if they involve specific story events.
  • Business Progress: Your progress in the Real Estate Royale and Cabaret Club Czar mini-games will carry over. This means you'll retain your properties, managers, and accumulated income, allowing you to quickly reach maximum rank again.
  • Mr. Shakedown Progress: Any defeated Mr. Shakedown encounters will reset, but your accumulated wealth from previous encounters will remain.
What Does NOT Carry Over:
  • Story Progress: The main story will reset to Chapter 1.
  • Substory Progress: All substories will reset, allowing you to re-experience them or complete any you missed.
  • Friendship Levels: All friendship levels with various NPCs will reset.
  • Character Levels: While abilities carry over, your "level" in terms of story progression and the associated health/heat bar increases will reset to their Chapter 1 values.
  • Inventory of specific story-related items: Certain key items vital for story progression will not carry over, ensuring the narrative plays out as intended.
NG+ Strategies:
  • Legend Difficulty: NG+ is the ideal way to tackle the challenging Legend difficulty. With all your upgrades and powerful gear, you'll be much better equipped to handle the tougher enemies and bosses.
  • Trophy Hunting: Use NG+ to clean up any remaining trophies, especially those tied to substories, minigames, or specific combat feats that might have been difficult on your first playthrough.
  • Max Out Businesses: If you didn't fully complete Real Estate Royale or Cabaret Club Czar, NG+ provides a perfect opportunity to do so with your existing progress.
  • Experiment with Styles: With all styles unlocked from the start, NG+ is a great chance to experiment with different combat approaches and master your favorites.

Premium Adventure

Premium Adventure is a free-roaming mode that allows you to continue playing in the world of Yakuza 0 after completing the main story, without the constraints of the narrative. All areas of Kamurocho and Sotenbori are open, and you can freely switch between Kiryu and Majima at any telephone booth.

Accessing Premium Adventure:

After completing the final chapter and watching the credits, you will be prompted to save your "Clear Data." Load this Clear Data file from the main menu, and you will be given the option to start Premium Adventure or New Game +.

What You Can Do in Premium Adventure:
  • Complete Remaining Substories: This is the primary draw of Premium Adventure. Any substories you missed or didn't complete during the main game can now be tackled at your leisure.
  • Finish Minigames: Dedicate time to mastering minigames like Pocket Circuit, Disco, Mahjong, or the Batting Cages to earn all their rewards and complete their respective sections of the Completion List.
  • Max Out Businesses: If you haven't already, you can continue to manage the Real Estate Royale and Cabaret Club Czar to reach 100% completion and unlock all associated rewards, including the powerful Dragon of Dojima and Mad Dog of Shimano Legend styles if you haven't already.
  • Collect Items: Hunt for any remaining Locker Keys, discover hidden items, or complete your food and drink lists at various restaurants.
  • Challenge Mr. Shakedown: Continue to engage with Mr. Shakedown for massive cash payouts, perfect for buying expensive equipment or investing in your businesses.
  • Fight Amon: Once you've completed all substories for both Kiryu and Majima, the legendary secret boss, Amon, will become available. This is one of the toughest challenges in the game and a true test of your combat prowess.
  • Enjoy the World: Simply wander the streets, enjoy the atmosphere, and soak in the vibrant details of 1980s Japan.
Premium Adventure Tips:
  • Switch Characters Often: Remember to utilize the telephone booths to switch between Kiryu and Majima as needed, especially for substories or business management specific to each character.
  • Check Your Completion List: Regularly consult your Completion List in the pause menu to track your progress and identify what activities you still need to complete.
  • Save Frequently: Even in Premium Adventure, it's wise to save often, especially before attempting challenging minigames or boss fights.
