Complete the Borderlands Fresh Off the Bus mission by following Claptrap and defeating bandits. Learn about looting and New-U Stations.
Walkthrough
- 1After choosing your character, exit the bus in Fyrestone and interact with Claptrap.
- 2Explore the area around the bus stop, looting dumpsters, lockers, safes, and toilets. Anything with a green light can be looted. Holding X automatically collects nearby loot.
- 3Use the generator near the neon sign to reach the roof of the Fyrestone Motel and loot the red chest for new equipment.
- 4Return to Claptrap. You can customize your name and color scheme at the nearby New-U Station, which also acts as a save point and respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) location.
- 5Bandits will attack as Claptrap tries to open the gate. Sprint forward and take cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) behind rubble. Aim at the Bandit Thugs and Bandit Raiders.
- 6Targeting enemies shows their name and level. Enemies four levels higher than you are generally too difficult. The bandits here are Level 1 and Level 2.
- 7Loot the defeated bandits for cash and potential weapons.
- 8Continue down the road, defeating more bandits. Be aware of the elemental red barrel (Fire) near a house on the left.
- 9Claptrap will point out another red chest; loot its contents.
- 10Access your Storage Deck (press Back) to equip and compare weapons. Press X to compare items and determine the best choices.
- 11The gate to Fyrestone is closed. Crouch (press B) and go around the rubble.
- 12Crouch and jump over rubble to encounter another group of bandits. Be mindful of their equipment, like Shotguns.
- 13Upon reaching Fyrestone, you should gain a level, fully restoring your HP and increasing your damage output.
- 14Clear the bandits out of Fyrestone.
- 15The mysterious girl reappears briefly. Loot around town.
- 16Talk to Claptrap when ready, then speak with Doctor Zed inside a building to receive the next mission, "The Doctor Is In."
Tips
- Anything with a green light can be looted; the light turns red after looting.
- Holding X allows for automatic collection of nearby loot.
- Red chests always contain new equipment, usually weapons.
- New-U Stations allow you to change your name, customize character color, reset Skill Points, use Fast Travel, and act as save points and respawn locations.
- When fighting enemies, aim for their head for critical damage (headshot (a shot that lands on the enemy's head, usually an instant kill)).
- Enemy and boss levels are relative to your current level and may fluctuate slightly.
- Avoid fighting enemies at least four levels higher than you.
- Elemental barrels can explode and damage enemies, but also yourself.
- Crouching can help you navigate obstacles and avoid enemy fire.
- Gaining a level restores HP and increases damage dealt.
