Explore the High Wall of Lothric in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City. Find the first bonfire, defeat Hollow Soldiers, and discover the Longbow.
Walkthrough
- 1Open the doors and head down the stairs to find the first bonfire (a type of checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) where you can rest and recover). You will see two paths.
- 2Explore the path to the right first, which is a dead end. Look for a crack in the wall and kill the Hollow Soldier with a crossbow hiding on a wooden platform.
- 3Below this platform are multiple praying Hollow Soldiers that won't attack, making them easy targets for soul farming. There are also two Starved Hounds. Lure the hounds individually to avoid being flanked.
- 4Move forward to encounter a large variation of the Hollow Soldier wielding a Halberd.
- 5Watch your back for another Large Hollow Soldier with a Greataxe that comes up the stairs.
- 6Take the stairs down to find a Soul of a Deserted Corpse and another basic Hollow Soldier resting against the wall.
- 7Head back up the stairs and take the other set of stairs to the left.
- 8You will find a Hollow Soldier with a crossbow and some more praying soldiers. Rush up the stairs and attack the praying soldier at the back of the group on the right, near the crossbow one, as it stands up and defeat it before it transforms into a Pus of Man (a transformed beast).
- 9Finish off the other Hollow Soldiers.
- 10Grab the Longbow and some Standard Arrows nearby. Equip the bow if possible.
- 11Return to the bonfire and head to Firelink. Buy at least 99 Wood Arrows for an upcoming ranged battle.
- 12Head down the other set of stairs and take out the first Hollow Soldier behind some praying ones.
- 13Quickly take out the soldier carrying the lantern before it calls others to attack.
- 14Grab the Soul of a Deserted Corpse.
- 15Take the stairs up to a courtyard with another lantern-wielding Hollow Soldier.
- 16Rush in and defeat the soldier quickly, or use a spell like Spook to sneak up on him, as the remaining soldiers will remain seated. If other Hollow Soldiers are alerted, back up to the stairs to bottleneck them, avoiding fire from the crossbow above.
- 17Head up the stairs to find the Binoculars.
- 18Check behind the dragon's tail on the lower level to find a ledge that leads to Gold Pine Resin x2.
- 19The window drops you into the building you would have entered if you took the stairs down.
- 20Clear the area of a few more Hollow Soldiers and find Firebomb x2 under the table.
- 21Take the ladder downstairs.
- 22Collect the Soul of a Deserted Corpse.
- 23Carefully exit the building to find more Hollow Soldiers.
- 24Take out the crossbowman in the back while fighting the shielded soldier.
- 25Back up to avoid the fire of another crossbowman further down the alley. Bait shielded enemies to attack first or use a pierce weapon.
- 26Head up the stairs until you see a dragon fly down and return down the stairs.
- 27Bait the dragon to breathe fire on the alley below to finish off ignored soldiers.
- 28The dragon can be defeated with about 80 Wood Arrows by standing near the top of the stairs with your head below ground level, shooting its body until it flees (drops a Large Titanite Shard).
- 29Enter the upper courtyard to collect a Large Soul of a Deserted Corpse, Club, Ember, and Claymore.
- 30Enter the tower and head down the stairs to find a treasure chest. Do not open it immediately as it is a Mimic (an enemy that pretends to be a treasure chest).
- 31Start with a strong attack and use the majority of your stamina while it stands up, leaving enough to roll away if needed.
Tips
- Hollow Soldiers are basic foot soldiers with basic weapons and some combat knowledge. Attack with weaker strikes, keep your shield ready, and counterattack. Shielded foes can counterstrike if you attack their shields; bait them before striking or use a weapon that can pierce shields.
- Large Hollow Soldiers deal heavy damage with slow attacks. Bait them into attacking before you counter and watch out for sweeping attacks. Rolling behind them during an attack allows for a backstab.
- Pus of Man are deadly in the early game with wide sweeping attacks. It is best to avoid them or defeat them before they transform. Ranged weapons or Firebombs can be used if necessary.
- Mimics devour you upon opening. They have three primary attacks, two of which are deadly early in the game: a close-range slash with the right arm or an arching back grab. The arm attack can be avoided by rolling to the side.
