Discover Terra Incognita in Dragon Quest Builders: learn about the Sharing Stone, Summoning Stones, stopping time, infinite materials, and unlocking new islands.

Terra Incognita is a special area in Dragon Quest Builders, separate from the main story islands. It acts as a sandbox where your creations and progress are saved permanently. You'll find a nearby area called the Sharing Stone, which allows you to save and share your builds online. You can also use Summoning Stones to bring other players' creations into your game. These areas have limited materials, but examining the banner resets them, providing an infinite supply. However, do not build anything permanent in these specific zones as they will be erased.

Terra Incognita itself is a large, persistent zone for your creative endeavors. Your Max HP is also tracked here, and you can find additional Seeds of Life to increase it. A trick to flatten land is to use a Summoning Stone, which can clear the area in front of it for your builds.

The Banner in Terra Incognita offers several features. You can Stop Time, which halts the day/night cycle and hunger, creating a true sandbox experience. Note that crops and trees do not grow naturally here; you'll need the Faerie Fertilizer for that. Upon starting, you'll receive three Naviglobes and a Dragon Quest Game Pak. Defeating monsters earns 'pixels,' a currency used at the Game Pak to purchase unique items, including infinite material supplies.

You begin without tools but retain all previously unlocked recipes. However, access to these recipes is tied to specific workbench styles from each chapter. You'll need to craft these workbenches to access their associated recipes. Additionally, many new items and items unlocked through chapter challenges are available. The Colossal Closet replaces the Colossal Chest, offering more storage space.

Random residents will appear and can be recruited to help fight monsters. The available residents depend on the chapters you've completed. You can favorite residents to make them stay permanently and summon them via the Banner. A small building in the center contains pre-made decorative items. Terra Incognita also features Terra Gladiatoria, where you can spend tickets to summon monsters for rewards and materials.

The New Islands

Each chapter unlocks a new area in Terra Incognita that mirrors the corresponding chapter's environment. For example, the Cantlin-themed area progresses through plains, hills, desert, and ravine zones. The unlocked areas are:

  • Chapter 1: Terra Australis
  • Chapter 2: Terra Orientalis
  • Chapter 3: Terra Borealis
  • Final Chapter: Terra Occidentalis

New items and islands are added to your existing saved game, allowing you to return and explore continuously as you progress through the story.

Terra Gladiatoria

Find Blank Tickets in chests throughout the islands. Use a Workbench to convert these into battles in Terra Gladiatoria. This mode allows you to challenge monster groups and obtain materials, including blocks, which is beneficial for players who prefer combat over crafting.

Mounts

On one of the islands, you can find a tiger cub being bullied by monsters. After fending off the monsters and feeding it a Plumberry, the cub will join you as a mount. This Sabrecub speeds up travel, allows for higher jumps, and makes navigation smoother. You can mount it using the 'use' button and unmount by pressing the Menu/Start button. You can remove the Sabrecub from your party by talking to it.

The Carpet is another traversal tool that allows you to fly over all terrain. It's excellent for building and gathering materials quickly, enabling you to travel from one side of an island to another in no time. However, you cannot use the Carpet while the Sabrecub is in your party. The Sabrecub is better for monster hunting, while the Carpet excels at general traversal and gathering. To ascend or descend while using the Carpet, hold the sprint button (RB/R1) and use the directional controls.
