Your Exodus walkthrough begins! Learn how to handle your starting Pistol, find ammo, and deal with early threats like T'vaoans and Suicide Unggoy on Legendary.
Alright, let's get you started on the Exodus mission in Halo: Reach. You're going to begin this one in a rough spot – just a Pistol with limited ammo, and you've taken a nasty fall. Don't worry, we'll get you back on your feet. First things first, look around for some ammo to top off your Pistol. No health packs right away, but no enemies either, so just grab what you can. Soon enough, you'll run into some T'vaoans. Take them out quickly and grab a Plasma Pistol off one of them. It's not ideal, but it'll do for now. Keep pushing forward, and you'll hear about, then encounter, Suicide Unggoy. Your Pistol is good for headshots here, but watch out for those grenades they toss – even in tight spaces, they can get you. Head into the basement area; you'll find more Unggoy, an Armor Lock drop, and some Needlers. Ditch the Plasma Pistol for the Needler – it's much better for close-quarters work. Use the Armor Lock if any Unggoy get too close to detonate, and keep shooting the rest from a distance. Eventually, you'll find stairs leading to an exit and a much-needed Health Pack. Heal up, and let's move on. As you exit, you'll see a Dropship fly by. Ignore it and turn left. At the bottom of some stairs, you'll find a Jiralhanae holding a civilian. If you want to try and save them, you'll need to sprint full speed and get a headshot on the Jiralhanae with your Sniper Rifle. Once that's dealt with, unload your Needler on the Jiralhanae. Grab the MA37 Assault Rifle from the ground and keep advancing. You'll face more T'vaoans and Jiralhanae. Use the environment to your advantage, strafe around, and use grenades if you have them to clear them out. Now, you'll need to do a bit of searching outside. Look for a Sniper Rifle – you'll definitely want it for the next area. Swap it for your Pistol if you have it. Head into the next area and go up the stairs. You'll encounter a lone Unggoy; a quick melee will take care of him. Move into the open area and grab the M392 Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) off the ground. Use this to take out the Jiralhanae at a distance. Even on Legendary, the Minor Jiralhanae go down in a few shots, and Jiralhanae Captains only need about five or six. Clear out the T'vaoans too. Activate the elevator, but be ready – you'll get a message about incoming Phantoms. Head to the left doorway and take out the Unggoy and Minors that appear first. Fall back and swap your DMR for an Assault Rifle. Head back towards the entrance, clearing out any T'vaoans. You might feel bad about losing some civilians and soldiers, but two Chieftains with Gravity Hammers are coming, and dealing with them at range is much easier. Use your Sniper Rifle to put them down, then quickly grab a Gravity Hammer yourself and clear out the rest of the area. Once it's safe, get in the elevator and head out.100% Human-Written.
