How to Stockpile Resources

Learn how to stockpile resources in frostpunk 2. In the Prologue, you must stockpile 40,000 Food for an upcoming whiteout.

Stockpiling is the act of keeping extra resources stored for future use. This becomes crucial when demand increases due to a larger population, depleted resource nodes, or severe weather events such as whiteouts. You can check your current stockpile levels by hovering over a resource icon to see how much you have and how long it will last.

The resource bar at the top of the screen indicates your supply status: a solid gray bar means demand is met, a golden bar with right-pointing arrows signifies a surplus (stockpiling), a gold bar with left-pointing arrows means you are using stockpiled resources, and any red on the bar indicates unfulfilled demand.

When you have a surplus, you should build a Stockpile Hub to store these excess resources for times of need, especially during whiteouts when resource acquisition becomes more difficult.

Stockpile Hubs:

• Each resource type has a dedicated Stockpile Hub.
• These are found within the Construct Hubs menu, accessed by pressing a specific button or selecting the icon in the bottom-right of the screen.
• Fuel Stockpiling Hub: Stores Coal and Oil.
• Materials Stockpiling Hub: Stores all types of acquired materials.
• Goods Stockpiling Hub: Stores Goods produced in Industrial Districts.
• Food Stockpiling Hub: Stores all encountered or farmed food resources.

Placing a Stockpile Hub near its corresponding resource district provides an area of effect that reduces the workforce needed for that district. Ensure you place the correct Hub next to the appropriate resource district (e.g., Food Hub near a Food District, Fuel Hub near a Fuel Extraction District, Goods Hub near an Industrial District, Materials Hub near a Materials Extraction District) to gain this bonus.

Increasing Stockpile Limit:

Each Stockpile Hub has a limit. In the Prologue, the limit is around 15,000 resources per Hub. In the main Chapters, each Hub can hold up to 50,000 resources. To stockpile more than a single Hub's capacity, you must build additional Hubs in different districts.

Destroying Stockpiles:

Deactivating or destroying a Stockpiling Hub prevents further storage but does not result in the loss of already stored resources. These stored resources remain usable until depleted.
