Gacha Mechanics in Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact features a gacha system, often referred to as 'Wishes,' where players spend in-game currency to obtain characters and weapons. Understanding these mechanics is crucial for efficient resource management and team building. The game offers several types of banners, each with different featured items and probabilities. Learning about pity systems and the best times to wish can significantly improve your chances of acquiring desired characters and gear.
The core of Genshin Impact's gacha system lies in its 'Wishes.' These are essentially loot boxes that require Acquaint Fates or Intertwined Fates, which can be obtained through various in-game activities, exploration, or purchased with Primogems. Primogems are the premium currency, earned through quests, daily commissions, events, and exploration, or bought with real money.
There are three main types of Wish banners:
- Standard Wish Banner (Beginner's Wish & Wanderlust Invocation): This banner offers a permanent pool of characters and weapons. The Beginner's Wish banner has a discounted rate for the first 20 wishes and guarantees a 4-star character and weapon.
- Event Wish Banner (Character Event Wish): This is the most important banner for acquiring new characters. It features a limited-time 5-star character with an increased drop rate, along with several featured 4-star characters. These banners rotate regularly.
- Weapon Event Wish: Similar to the Character Event Wish, this banner focuses on specific 5-star weapons, offering increased drop rates for them.
Pity System: To ensure players eventually get high-rarity items, Genshin Impact employs a pity system. For 5-star items, you are guaranteed one within 90 wishes on the Standard Wish or Character Event Wish banners. On the Weapon Event Wish banner, you are guaranteed a 5-star weapon within 80 wishes. Furthermore, if you wish for a 5-star item that is not the featured item on the Character Event Wish or Weapon Event Wish banners, your next 5-star wish on that same banner is guaranteed to be the featured item. This is known as 'soft pity,' where the chances of getting a 5-star increase significantly after the 75th wish.
Fates:
| Fate Type | Used For | Obtained From |
|---|---|---|
| Acquaint Fate | Standard Wish Banner | Primogems, Stardust Exchange, Adventurer Rank Rewards, Quests |
| Intertwined Fate | Event Wish Banners (Character & Weapon) | Primogems, Stardust Exchange, Event Rewards, Battle Pass |
Understanding these mechanics will help you strategize your wishes and build a strong roster of characters and weapons to tackle the challenges of Teyvat.
