Crafting & Upgrading

Upgrading your sword is a top priority in Ghost of Tsushima, as it's your primary damage source. Fully upgrading your sword requires specific resources: 3,250 supplies, 320 iron, 155 steel, and 13 gold. These materials are found throughout the world, with some being rarer than others.

  • Sword Upgrades: Fully upgrading your sword is crucial for maximizing your damage output. The small tanto is not required for the "Perfect Storm" achievement, which only pertains to your main sword.
  • Required Materials for Full Sword Upgrade:
    • 3,250 Supplies
    • 320 Iron
    • 155 Steel
    • 13 Gold
  • Resource Locations:
    • Supplies: Found commonly throughout the world, requiring scavenging.
    • Iron & Steel: Primarily located in Mongol camps, villages, and strongholds.
    • Gold: Rarely obtained from Trapper vendors; the main source is liberating large Mongol territories.
  • Charms: Charms provide various buffs to Jin. You start with two charm slots and can expand to six by visiting 20 Inari Shrines (Fox Dens). Charms are acquired by honoring Shinto shrines and completing side quests. Equipping six charms unlocks the "A Charming Man" achievement.
