Part 3

Frets and the Strum Bar: To play, hold down the correct fret buttons on your guitar controller and strum when the scrolling note reaches the strum line.

Star Power: Fill the Star Power meter by hitting notes with a star shape. At least half the meter must be filled to activate it. Star Power grants an X8 multiplier and helps the Rock Meter increase faster. Use the whammy bar on long, star-shaped notes to gain extra Star Power for bonus points. Tilting the guitar controller or pressing select activates Star Power, doubling your current multiplier.

Whammy Bar: Use the whammy bar on long, star-shaped notes to gain Star Power; the note will turn blue on screen. You can also use the whammy bar to create sounds by moving it in and out.

Rock Meter, Streaks, and Scoring: The Rock Meter indicates your performance: green is good, red is bad. Hitting notes raises it, missing lowers it. Flashing red means you are close to failing. Streaks are the number of consecutive notes hit, with the game announcing milestones at 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, and 1000. Higher streaks yield more points. Scoring: Each single note is 50 points, 2-note chords are 100, and 3-note chords are 150. Your score multiplier increases every 10 consecutive notes hit, starting at x1 and going up to x4. Star Power doubles these multipliers, up to x8.
