Tips
- Vehicles: Many vehicles in Just Cause 4 feature nitrous (hold Right Bumper for speed) and turbo jump (tap Right Bumper) meters, especially smaller ones like motorcycles and ATVs. On larger boats, these functions might be swapped to the Left Bumper. Vehicle weapons use Right Bumper for primary and Left Bumper for secondary fire, but have limited ammo. Press Y to enter/exit vehicles or hold Y to access a radial menu to switch seats, with Up on the Left Thumbstick always placing you on top. Use Right on the D-Pad to cycle camera modes and Left on the D-Pad to cycle radio stations. The X Button activates the hand brake for quick stops or 180 turns, while the B Button honks the horn, causing nearby cars to pull over or friendly soldiers to enter military vehicles. You cannot tether objects while in a vehicle, but you can use Up/Down on the D-Pad to activate/release them, and tether objects to tow them. Helicopters allow you to hang from the bottom by holding Y and pressing the Left Thumbstick down, enabling actions while hovering. Some vehicles have unique mechanisms like trailer hitching/unhitching on semi-trucks or raising/lowering ramps on ramp trucks. The Wheel Loader has a movable arm and bucket operated with the Left Thumbstick and bumpers.
- Vehicle Combat: In normal vehicles, defense relies on driving skill and using the vehicle as a battering ram. Motorcycles and jetskis allow weapon use by holding Left Bumper to aim and pressing Right Bumper to shoot (X Button to reload). Some light military vehicles have mounted guns usable after exiting the driver's seat, while heavier vehicles allow simultaneous driving and weapon firing. To deal with enemy vehicles, you can destroy them, hijack them by grappling and pressing Y, or tether turret occupants to something else. Choose vehicles wisely for combat; larger vehicles are slower. Watch for green lasers from RPG troops (they fire within seconds) and red lasers from snipers. Maintain situational awareness to avoid getting stuck on environmental objects, especially with boats due to their limited maneuverability. Helicopters offer speed and maneuverability but are less durable and face accurate enemy helicopters.
- Grappling Hook Menu: The Grappling Hook option is now available on the map screen. Use the Triggers to navigate to it.
