Alright, so you're ready to dive into Raft! Let's get you set up with your very first steps. It all starts with kicking off a new game.

When you hit the main screen, you'll see the 'New Game' option. Go ahead and pick that. You'll then get to choose between two diary slots – pick whichever one feels right.

Next up, it's time to name your two main characters: your boy and your girl. You'll be playing as both of them throughout the story, so make sure you pick names you like for each!

Once you've settled on names, the game will ask you to choose a name that'll show up when you're playing online. Pick something cool!

After that, you'll get to watch a pretty neat video showing a meteor crash and introducing you to the Y-File agents, Blunder and Folly. Pretty dramatic start, right?

Now, get ready for dinner!

This is your first real mini-game. You'll see the A, B, X, and Y buttons pop up on screen, and your job is to press them as they appear. The trick to getting a super high score here is to wait until the little yellow sparkle on the spiral path travels all the way down to the button prompt before you hit it. Timing is key!

Keep an eye out for Hungramps, too – they'll try to sneak in and steal a bite! When one shows up, you'll see a larger purple ring. Wait for that ring to shrink down to the size of the smaller inner ring, and then press X to shoo them away.

If you nail all 40 button presses with a good score (based on how many 'Cool' presses you get), you'll snag a little prize. And don't worry, this dinner mini-game is repeatable! You can play it again every in-game night by heading over to your Mom for dinner.

Once that's all done, you'll get the news: your boy character is moving to BBQ! From this point on, we'll refer to the boy as 'Hero' and the girl as 'Heroine' in this guide. Let's get this adventure rolling!
