Toxic Alcove (Injectable)

Learn how to brave the toxic gas of N'Erud's Toxic Alcove in Remnant II to retrieve the Alien Device and Technician Armor Set, unlocking the Engineer Archetype.

Most of the surface of N'Erud is shrouded in a toxic gas that kills in a matter of seconds. One pair of unfortunate Drzyr technicians ventured too deeply into the poison cloud and succumbed to the fumes. They still lie there, along with some of their very useful equipment. Braving the danger and collecting it gets you access to the Engineer Archetype.

Caution: Your character is probably going to die during the attempt to pick up all of the loot in the Toxic Alcove. That's OK as you can make as many trips back as you need to gather everything. Before you make your first attempt, find the nearest World Stone and make sure it is your most recent checkpoint. Doing so will save you from having to run all the way across the map to make any return trips to the alcove.

Finding the Alcove: The Toxic Alcove will be located somewhere along a straight edge of the second world area map on N'Erud. The map above shows the layout of the alcove, but this only becomes visible after you enter it. It does not appear on the map before you do so. Look for the unique formation pictured in the image at the top of this page. You will see a narrow gap between a platform on the left and a set of stalagmites on the right. Your path is through this gap.

Collecting the Loot: The toxic gas will kill you fairly quickly (15 seconds on Survivor Difficulty), so you're going to have to hurry. Evade rolling through the gas prevents (mostly) the vomiting that greatly slows your character. The Bisected Ring gives you infinite Stamina so you can evade roll continually. The Heart of the Wolf increases your Movement Speed. The Bright Steel Ring gives you the fastest evade roll possible regardless of your armor.

As you enter the poison gas, you'll come to the edge of a ledge almost immediately. Look ahead and just to the right to see another ledge across a short jump. Jump across to that ledge to find the Technician Armor Set.

With the gap through which you entered to your back and the armor set in front of you, look left to see a glowing, yellow object lying nearby on the ground below the ledge. That's the Alien Device.

Hop off of the ledge and pick up the Alien Device. If you're quick, you'll be able to pick up both items before your character dies. If you're extremely quick, you'll be able to climb back up the ledge at the entrance and escape the gas with both items before your character dies.

Congratulations! You now have what you need to obtain the Engineer Archetype and the armor to go with it!
