These optional objectives can lead you to hidden areas, introduce you to unique characters, and often present challenging encounters. Undertaking these quests is highly recommended for a complete experience and to gather essential resources and upgrades.

One such quest, often found in the industrial district of Ironhaven, involves assisting a scavenger named Jax. Jax is looking for a specific component, the Flux Capacitor, which he believes is located within a derelict factory overrun by mutated creatures. To complete this quest, you will need to navigate the factory's hazardous environment, which may involve platforming challenges and combat against multiple mutated drones. Upon retrieving the Flux Capacitor, return it to Jax for a reward of 500 credits and a rare crafting material, the Titanium Alloy.

Another notable side quest can be initiated by speaking with an AI fragment in the abandoned research facility known as the Bio-Dome. This AI fragment requests that you retrieve corrupted data logs scattered throughout the facility. These logs are often guarded by advanced security systems or aggressive bio-engineered entities. Successfully collecting all three data logs will unlock a new augmentation schematic for R.E.A.C.H., the Energy Shield Generator, which provides a temporary defensive barrier when activated. This quest requires careful exploration and combat prowess, as the Bio-Dome is a high-threat area.

Players may also encounter a distressed survivor near the outskirts of the Scrapheap. This survivor has lost a vital piece of equipment, a Portable Med-Kit, to a pack of aggressive scavengers. Tracking down the scavengers and defeating them in combat will allow you to recover the med-kit. Returning it to the survivor will grant you a significant amount of experience points and a handful of healing consumables, which can be invaluable for tougher main story segments. Pay attention to environmental clues and enemy patrol patterns when attempting to locate the scavengers.
