The Witch of the Lake is a formidable boss found in Siam Lake. This guide will help you navigate the treacherous waters and defeat her.
Approaching the Witch
From the Siam Lake Sanctuary, head right. You'll encounter several Drowned Porcelain and a Drowned Berzerker. Deal with them carefully, as they can quickly overwhelm you.
Continue right, navigating the platforms. You'll soon reach a large open area with a glowing blue portal. This is the entrance to the Witch of the Lake's arena. Before entering, ensure you are fully prepared.
Recommended Preparations:
- Healing: Stock up on as many Flasks of Crimson Tears as possible.
- Buffs: Consider using buffs like
Stone Skin for physical defense orDivine Blessed Weapon for increased damage if you're a magic user. - Equipment: Equip armor with good Arcane defense. The
Iron Mask andIron Armor set can be helpful. For weapons, anything with high damage output is preferred. - Charms: The
Mossy Charm can provide a small boost to elemental defense.
Boss Strategy: The Witch of the Lake
The Witch of the Lake is a magic-focused boss with several dangerous attacks. Her arena is a large, watery platform, so be mindful of your footing.
Phase 1: Ranged Assault
In her first phase, the Witch will primarily stay at a distance, casting various spells.
- Arcane Orbs: She will fire multiple slow-moving arcane orbs. These can be rolled through or blocked with a shield. Try to bait them out and then close the distance.
- Arcane Beam: The Witch will charge up and unleash a powerful, continuous arcane beam. This attack has a clear wind-up, giving you time to roll behind her or to the side. Do NOT try to block this; it will deplete your stamina and likely break your guard.
- Summoned Minions: Occasionally, she will summon Drowned Porcelain to assist her. Prioritize taking these out quickly, as they can become a nuisance during the fight. A few quick hits should dispatch them.
Your goal in this phase is to chip away at her health while avoiding her spells. If you're a melee character, use quick bursts of attacks after dodging her spells, then retreat to a safe distance. Ranged characters can maintain their distance and continuously attack.
Phase 2: Aggressive Melee and Area Denial
Once her health drops to approximately 50%, the Witch will become more aggressive and incorporate melee attacks into her repertoire, along with more potent area-of-effect spells.
- Arcane Explosion: She will frequently cast an area-of-effect arcane explosion around herself. This has a short wind-up, indicated by a glowing aura. Roll away immediately when you see this.
- Water Whip: The Witch will use a close-range water whip attack. This is a quick, sweeping attack that can be difficult to dodge if you're too close. Maintain a slight distance if possible.
- Increased Orb Frequency: Expect a higher frequency of arcane orbs and beams. The arena can quickly become saturated with projectiles.
In this phase, patience is key. Look for openings after her arcane explosion or beam attacks. Get in a few hits, then prioritize dodging. If you have any remaining buffs or powerful offensive items, now is the time to use them to finish her off quickly.
Victory and Rewards
Upon defeating the Witch of the Lake, you will receive:
- Salt: A significant amount of Salt, useful for leveling up.
- Gold: A good sum of Gold.
- Witch's Brooch: A crafting material used to create powerful arcane weapons and armor.
- Black Pearl: A rare crafting material.
After the battle, proceed to the right to find a new path forward, leading you deeper into the mysteries of the island.
