The Redshift Brand
The Redshift Brand is a crucial item for any explorer venturing into the deepest, most dangerous reaches of the island. This brand allows you to perform a unique Redshift Leap, an ethereal dash that phases you through certain red-tinged barriers and platforms, opening up new pathways and secrets. Obtaining it is a multi-step process that requires navigating treacherous areas and defeating formidable foes.
Acquisition Steps
- Journey to the Ziggurat of Dust: Your quest for the Redshift Brand begins in the Ziggurat of Dust. This area is accessible after defeating the Kraeken Cyclops in the Hager's Cavern and proceeding through the eastern exit.
- Navigate the Ziggurat:
- From the Sanctuary in the Ziggurat of Dust, head right and descend the platforms. Be wary of the Bound Arrox and Emberskull enemies.
- Continue downwards until you reach a large open area with several platforms and a Dropspider hanging from the ceiling.
- Proceed to the far right of this area, where you'll find a series of crumbling platforms leading further down.
- At the bottom, you'll encounter a Crypt Keeper. Defeat it and continue right.
- Locate the Hidden Passage:
- You will eventually come to a dead end with a seemingly solid wall. This is where the Vertigo Brand (obtained earlier in the Dome of the Forgotten) comes into play.
- Use the Vertigo Brand to wall jump up the left side of this "dead end" wall. There's a hidden passage at the top.
- Follow this passage, which will lead you to a series of precarious jumps over a chasm.
- Confront the Untouched Inquisitor:
- After navigating the hidden passage, you will enter a large chamber. Prepare for a boss battle against the Untouched Inquisitor.
- Strategy: The Untouched Inquisitor is a fast and aggressive boss, wielding a large scythe and capable of summoning spectral projectiles. Focus on dodging its wide sweeping attacks and creating openings for your own strikes. Its spectral projectiles can be parried for significant damage if your timing is precise. Consider using fire-based attacks or enchantments, as it seems somewhat vulnerable to them.
- Claim the Redshift Brand: Upon defeating the Untouched Inquisitor, proceed to the right of the boss arena. The Redshift Brand will be waiting for you on a pedestal. Interact with it to acquire this invaluable traversal ability.
Utilizing the Redshift Brand
Once acquired, the Redshift Brand is automatically equipped. To perform a Redshift Leap, simply press the designated brand action button (typically R2/RT on controllers, or the assigned key on PC) while facing a red-tinged barrier or platform. Your character will briefly glow red and dash through the obstacle. This ability is essential for accessing new areas in the Ziggurat of Dust, Dome of the Forgotten, and later zones like the Crypt of Dead Gods.
