The Mortal Blade is one of the most powerful and significant weapons Sekiro can wield in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Unlike his standard katana, the Kusabimaru, the Mortal Blade possesses unique properties that allow it to inflict significant damage on even the most resilient foes, particularly those with immortality. Obtaining the Mortal Blade is a major milestone in the game's progression.

There are actually two Mortal Blades in the game: the **Immortal Blade** and the **Black Mortal Blade**. The Immortal Blade is obtained by defeating the Divine Dragon. The Black Mortal Blade is acquired by defeating the Corrupted Monk in her true form. Each blade has its own distinct appearance and combat arts associated with it, offering different strategic advantages.

The Mortal Blade's primary advantage lies in its ability to bypass the regenerative or immortal qualities of certain enemies, making it indispensable for specific boss encounters. Its combat arts, such as the **Ashina Cross** (when wielded with the Black Mortal Blade) or the **Mortal Draw** (when wielded with the Immortal Blade), are devastating and can quickly turn the tide of battle.
