Walkthrough
  1. 1
The Temple of Anubis features quicksand instead of ladders, which can be traversed slowly up and down.
  2. 2
Push blocks resemble regular floor tiles; run into walls to find them.
  3. 3
The Golden Idol in this world is guarded by a Giant Crush Block and is worth $20000 in World 4. Use surrounding push blocks to create a safe path or use a Bomb.
  4. 4
If you rescued Van Horsing in Volcana, he appears again on 4-1 in the backroom and gives you the Alien Compass (used in locating secret areas).
  5. 5
A sarcophagus on 4-1 contains a Hired Hand.
  6. 6
Anubis, the jackal-headed god (20 HP), is immediately encountered on 4-1. He floats and attacks with three purple rings that travel through walls (dissipate after seven seconds) or a faster, straight-line projectile indicated by an Eye of Horus symbol. Both attacks deal 10 damage. He activates when damaged or when you get within 4 tiles.
  7. 7
The Star Challenge reward is the Elixir, which gives +4 HP and cures status effects, or +8 HP if unaffected.

New Items:

  • Scepter: Golden scepter dropped by Anubis. Fires a purple ring projectile through walls that homes in on the nearest non-player body for six seconds. Be cautious near enemies that don't leave bodies. Knocks you backwards when used. Used for the secret ending.
  • Elixir: Gives +4 HP and cures status effects. If unaffected, gives +8 HP. Reward for completing the Star Challenge.
  • Alien Compass: Used in locating secret areas.

New Traps:

  • Crush Trap: Recognizable by the Eye of Horus. Sees you from 6 blocks away and rapidly travels to crush you against a solid object.
  • Giant Crush Trap: A larger variant of the Crush Trap.

New Enemies:

  • Cat Mummy: 1 HP. Runs and jumps toward you, inflicting Cursed on hit. Its death releases two clouds that also inflict Cursed.
  • Mummy: 10 HP. Vomits locusts (2 damage per hit). Falling vomit can give HP if you have the Kapala.
  • Crocman: 3 HP. A Caveman variant that runs, jumps, and teleports just before taking damage, potentially telefragging you. Has a cooldown before teleporting again.
  • Sorceress: 3 HP. Sees you through walls and fires a laser (2 damage). If it misses, spawns a Bat, Spider, or Bee.
  • Necromancer: 4 HP. Spawns Red Skeletons within 8 tiles or resurrects dead enemies within vision range. Can see you from the backroom.
  • Red Skeleton: 1 HP, faster Skeleton variant with a 10-second lifespan.
  • Anubis: 20 HP. Floats and attacks with purple rings or a straight-line projectile.
Tips
  • Keep enemies separated; avoid larger groups and enemies/traps grouped together.
  • To defeat Anubis: use two well-placed Bombs (Sticky Bombs recommended), Spike Shoes (2-3 hits), the Shotgun from a safe distance, the Freeze Ray (1 shot), or lure a Crush Trap or push block into him.
  • The Scepter projectile can be dangerous if used near enemies that don't leave bodies.
  • Consider manually moving bodies to clear paths before using the Scepter.
  • The Crocman dodges the first hit of the Scepter, potentially putting you in danger.
  • Lure Crush Traps away so they can no longer see you.
  • Move a push block into a Crush Trap's path.
  • To deal with Necromancers, throw bodies away from the action, gather them in one spot, or use a Freeze Ray or Crush Trap to destroy them.
