- 1Discover Sites: Archaeological Sites appear through events or discoveries.
- 2Excavate: Assign scientists to these sites to begin excavation. This process takes time and may involve mini-events or challenges.
- 3Collect Specimens: Upon successful excavation, you will obtain specimens, which are categorized into Aesthetic Wonders, Galactic History, and Xeno Geology.
- 4Display Specimens: To display specimens, you need the Galactic Archivism technology and a Grand Archive megastructure.
- 5Manage Collection: Each category has 9 exhibit slots. Additional specimens can be stored, and the system can be set to auto-sell based on rarity.
- 6Grand Archive Upkeep: The Grand Archive has an Energy upkeep that increases with Empire Size.
- 7Security: Specimens can be stolen if the starbase housing the Grand Archive is occupied. The Barbaric Despoilers civic increases the number of stolen specimens.
