Learn how to beat all the challenges in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, including the Smash page challenges like Incineroar's damage, Simon's Final Smash, and Cloud's Cross Slash.
Beat challenges to get a nice assortment of rewards. They can be found by navigating to:
Vault → Challenges
Challenges are organized into 8 categories known as pages. The pages indicate which mode the challenge needs to be completed in. The challenge 'Simon' in the Smash page requires you to use a Final Smash as Simon. Using the Final Smash online or in the Spirit Board will be of no use! You need to do it in the Smash mode. Keep in mind that challenges named after a fighter do not necessarily mean you have to beat the challenge with that fighter. The name relates to the artwork on the panel. The Simon challenge specifies the need to use Simon in its description. Each challenge is referred to as a 'panel' or 'tile' because you'll unlock an image which can be viewed when you beat the challenge. All these panels under their respective category create the 'page'.
If you are having difficulties beating a challenge you can use the Golden Hammer to claim its reward. The hammer can be found in the bottom right corner. Select it and smash open the locked panel/tile by holding A above it.The Golden Hammer is a single use item but if you highlight the hammer icon it will tell you how many more challenges you have to beat before you get another one. Unlocking a panel via the hammer will count towards the panel requirement for the next Golden Hammer. Not all challenges can be unlocked by the Golden Hammer. When you have the hammer selected a 'no sign' or lock will appear above excluded panels. You'll have to beat these ones normally. If you use a Golden Hammer you won't be penalized. You'll get the panel and page rewards as if you had beaten them through gameplay. The only difference is that a small hammer icon will appear on the panel's description (left of the reward image). If you beat the challenge by meeting the requirements through gameplay then the hammer icon will be removed. The actual Golden Hammer will not be returned to you.
There are three milestones for completing panels or the entire page.
- You've completed 50 panels in Challenges!
- You've completed 100 panels in Challenges!
- You've completed a page in Challenges!

Below is a list of every challenge and how to beat it. They are sorted by their pages.
Smash
These challenges can only be completed within one of the various Smash category modes. While most of the challenges can be done in standard Smash others will require modes like Tourney. There are 28 panels to unlock.
| Panel / Tile | Challenge | Tips | Reward |
| Incineroar | As Incineroar, deal 40% or more damage to an opponent with a single attack. | To achieve 40% damage in one hit you must be powered up by Revenge (down special). When you use Revenge there is a brief window where the more damage you receive, the greater your attack increases. The increase lasts 60 seconds or until you hit the opponent. You'll know you've received the buff as Incineroar will release and be covered in embers while the effect is active. When you have the buff, a completely charged forward smash attack should do greater than 40% damage. | Mecha Suit (Mii Outfit) |
| Simon | As Simon, use a Final Smash. | You can make this Challenge easier by going into the Rule Settings and turning on items to high, setting only Smash Balls, 1 stock and the CPU to Lv. 1. Turning on the FS Meter also works. | Yoko Belnades (Spirit) |
| Cloud | As Cloud, hit an opponent with his side special, Cross Slash, while the Limit Gauge is charged. | A Lv. 1 CPU wont put up much of an effort to ruin your plans. Straight away use Cloud's down special to charge the Limit Gauge. The pink bar will flash white when fully charged. Then proceed to hit the opponent with a side special. If you miss it doesn't take too long to charge again. | Cloud (Advent Children) (Spirit) |
| Little Mac | As Little Mac, hit an opponent with a KO Uppercut in Boxing Ring. | A KO Uppercut is Little Mac's Neutral Special when the KO Meter is fully charged. Giving and receiving damage will charge the meter. KO will flash red on the meter when its ready to use. Using your Neutral Special before it is completely charged wont lower the meter but being KO'd yourself will. The attack needs to be performed on the stage Boxing Ring (It can be done outside the actual ring however). The meter takes a while to charge so making the opponent too weak or using too little stock will make this challenge actually harder as you'll win before its charged. I found 3 stock and a Lv. 5 CPU to work well. Using the KO Uppercut removes all the charge. Combine that with Little Mac's fast movement speed and the CPU's reluctance to stand still it can be hard to hit if you don't use Little Mac often. Turning on only Pitfalls (high) in the items setting can trap the opponent when they are grounded, helping you to align your shot! | Bear Hugger (Spirit) |
| Robin | As Robin, use a flurry attack to KO a Lv. 9 CPU in a 2-player battle. This must be done within 3 minutes, with spirits off, and without handicaps. | Robin has two Neutral combos with the third strike being a different spell depending on how fast you press A. The flurry attack is one of these spells. Mash A fast to do it. Robin will take out a green tome (spellbook) and after the second strike will slash the opponent multiple times with green wind. The last hit of this spell can launch the opponent. Once the tome has no charge Robin will discard it. You'll get it back after a while or once you are KOd. If you press A too slow you'll do a fire spell instead and this won't count towards the challenge. If you are not good as Robin I found doing this attack near the edge of a map that you can walk off-screen on like Bridge of Eldin can get some cheap KOs once you land the attac | N/A |
