Tetris Effect: Connected features two main categories of game modes: Journey Mode and Effect Modes. Each category offers a variety of experiences for players.

A. JOURNEY MODE

This mode functions as the game's campaign, guiding players through 7 Areas comprising a total of 27 Stages. Each stage features unique music and can be played on one of three difficulties: Beginner (30 lines), Normal (36 lines), or Expert (48 lines). The Metamorphosis stage has a fixed 90 lines for all difficulties.

• Area 1 (3 Stages): The Deep - Connected, Pharaoh's Code - Next Chapter, Karma Wheel - Pulse
• Area 2 (4 Stages): Jellyfish Chorus - Joy, Davinci - Bright Shadow, Prayer Circles - Spring Field, Ritual Passion - Flames
• Area 3 (4 Stages): Deserted - Lunar Discourse, Dolphin Surf - You and I, Downtown Jazz - City Lights, Spirited Canyon - New Beginnings
• Area 4 (5 Stages): Jeweled Veil - Temptation, Forest Dawn - Boscage, Kaleidoscope - 3 Senses, Turtle Dreams - Around Me, Celebration - All Nations
• Area 5 (5 Stages): Sunset Breeze - Moments, Aurora Peaks - Snows, Zen Blossoms - Unfolds, Yin & Yang - Chains, Hula Soul - 'Aumakua
• Area 6 (5 Stages): Starfall - Secrets, Balloon High - Look Up, Mermaid Cove - World of Colors, Orbit - Hometown, Stratosphere
• Area 7 (1 Stage): Metamorphosis - Always Been, but Never Dreamed

Special Features in Journey Mode:

• ZONE: A unique mechanic that slows down time, allowing players to clear more lines for increased points. ZONE time increases with consecutive line clears, and the maximum playfield is 10 blocks wide by 20 blocks high. Clearing specific numbers of lines within ZONE results in titles like TETRIS, OCTORIS, DODECATRIS, DECAHEXATRIS, PERFECTRIS, ULTIMATRIS, and IMPOSSIBILITRIS. After ZONE ends, players receive a Zone Bonus and Zone Lines score.
• High Total Score: Appears after completing Journey Mode from Area 1 to Area 7, especially when played on Expert difficulty.
• Infinite ZONE: A 1-minute automatic ZONE at the end of the game.
• Theater Mode: Allows players to enjoy the music and create their own FX rhythm.

B. EFFECT MODES

This category includes 15 distinct modes, categorized into PLAY, RELAX, and FOCUS.

PLAY Modes:

• Marathon: Clear 150 Lines. An optional Endless mode is available with a maximum speed level of 15.
