THE CIVIL WAR QUESTS - LEGION [08.00.00]

Guide to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's Civil War quests for the Imperial Legion, covering joining the Legion and retrieving the Jagged Crown.

To join the Imperial Legion, speak with Hadvar or any Imperial Guard. This will initiate the Miscellaneous Objective 'Join the Imperial Legion' and lead you to Legate Rikke in Castle Dour, Solitude.

Joining the Legion [08.01.00]

Objectives:

1. Clear out Fort Hraggstad
2. Report to Legate Rikke
3. Take the oath

Unique Items: None

Head to Fort Hraggstad and clear out the Bandits. You will face Bandits on the outside fortifications and a few that charge you. Inside the dungeon, there are two Bandits in the entrance and one upstairs near a [CHEST] on a wooden platform. In the back of this room is the Bandit Chief. After defeating him, proceed to the Prison area, where three Bandits are located, with a [CHEST] in the basement. Once all areas are cleared, return to Legate Rikke. You can then take the oath to be sworn into the Legion or decline if you wish to join the Stormcloaks. You will receive the Miscellaneous Objective to talk to Beirand for Imperial gear, which can be sold for profit.

The Jagged Crown [08.02.00]

Objectives:

1. Talk to Legate Rikke
2. Meet Legate Rikke outside Korvanjund
3. Retrieve the Jagged Crown
4. Deliver the crown to General Tullius

After deciding to join the Imperial Legion, speak with Legate Rikke for your first assignment. She has learned that the Jagged Crown has been discovered at the ruins of Korvanjund. Travel to Korvanjund and meet Legate Rikke and her soldiers. The Stormcloaks are present, but you have the element of surprise. You can eliminate Stormcloak Soldiers from the top of the crevasse while the Imperials attack from below. At the bottom, a master locked [GATE] leads to a [CHEST]. Enter the Korvanjund Temple and open the [CHEST] in the first room. You can either wait for Legate Rikke's signal or charge ahead. After clearing the Stormcloaks, secure the entrance. Descend into another area guarded by Stormcloak Soldiers. Legate Rikke will then ask you to find another way in via the steps on the second level. You can overhear Stormcloak Soldiers preparing an ambush. Initiate your assault, and the Imperials will assist you. Join Legate Rikke in the western room and enter the Korvanjund Halls. Follow the soldiers, eliminating any Stormcloaks. A path to the west with swinging axes leads to a [CHEST] and the [LEVER] to stop the blades. At the northern end, you will find two dead Stormcloak Soldiers and the [EBONY CLAW] on the floor. Examine the claw to determine the correct symbol order for the door: [WOLF], [MOTH], [DRAGON]. Activate the keyhole to enter a large room. Your path is blocked by a gate. Move north up the steps; on the western wall at the top, a dagger on a plinth opens a secret passageway to the left. Activate the [CHAIN] at the dead end to reveal a hidden room with a [CHEST], but be aware of attacking spears. Cross to the far east to find a [HANDLE] to your left and a [CHEST] in the back. Pull the handle to open the gate below and prepare to fight Draugr.
