Follow the Shieka Slate

Follow the Shieka Slate walkthrough for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Learn how to find items, defeat enemies, and activate your first Sheikah Tower.

Approach the campfire and pick up the Baked Apple on the ground by the fire. Doing so will have the old man by the fire speak to you.

Following the chat, continue down the hill and grab the Woodcutter's Axe from the tree stump to the right of the path. In the small pond, just below here (and behind where the Old Man was located), you'll find a Rusty Broadsword thrust into a stone block on a small island in its centre. There is also a ring of lilies nearby and if you go to the rocky outcropping overlooking the pond and dive into the ring from here, you'll be rewarded with a Korok Seed.

Keep moving a little further along the road and you'll bump into your first Bokoblin who will jump out of the trees on the left. Dispatch him and the Chu Chu that falls from the tree to the right of the road a little further along.

Our goal for this quest is to reach the yellow objective marker. Head straight for this, killing any Chuchus and Bokoblins get in the way.

As you approach the marker, you'll come across a small hill in front of it occupied by a pair of Bokoblins armed with bows. Approach and kill them to nab yourself a Boko Bow. The shielded Bokoblin a little further to the north of this hill can be killed with a single headshot form the bow. He's got a Traveler's Sword and the Boko Shield (we can wield these two items simultaneously, unlike the two-handed axe).

Head into the small opening behind where the shielded Bokoblin was standing to find a pedestal. Approach and interact with this using the Shieka Slate for a scene.

This will be our first tower. Each of the regions in the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has its own Tower and by climbing to the top of these and interacting with the Shieka Slate panel, they will reveal the area's map for you. Handy! They also provide a great view over the surrounding area, allowing you to tag points of interest with pins on the map and plan your exploration.

When you are done here, locate one of the holes in the floor and drop down, taking the successive ledges down to the base of the tower. When you arrive at ground level, the old man will show up again and following the conversation, he'll put you on a new main quest - 'The Isolated Plateau'.
