Escaping the Maw in the Basement

Learn how to evade the chilling Maw in The Medium's basement. Employ stealth, utilize cover, and time your Spirit Shield to escape this sound-sensitive threat.

After discovering the hidden room, you'll likely trigger an encounter with the Maw in the basement. This is a stealth sequence. The Maw is blind but hunts by sound. Move slowly and quietly (don't sprint). Use environmental cover like overturned furniture or shelves to break line of sight. If the Maw gets too close, use your Spirit Shield (hold Left Click or RT/R2) to briefly stun it and create an escape window. Your goal is to reach the exit door without being caught. Listen for its growls and footsteps to gauge its proximity.
