Navigate Wii Sports Resort's Canoeing and Cycling challenges. Master Speed Challenges, conquer Road Races, and dominate VS modes with expert tips and strategies.

This section covers the Canoeing and Cycling activities in Wii Sports Resort, detailing their respective modes, controls, and unlockable stamps.

Canoeing

Canoeing offers two modes: Speed Challenge and VS.

Speed Challenge

Objective: Paddle to the finish line by making rhythmic strokes at a steady pace.

Players: 1-4 (co-operative, played one at a time on one remote).

Nunchuk Required: No.

Stamps:

  • Beginner Licence: Reach 200m in the beginner level (single player).
  • Intermediate Licence: Reach 300m in the intermediate level (single player).
  • Expert Licence: Reach 400m in the expert level (single player).
  • Ducky Come Home: Find all stray ducklings in Free Practice Mode and lead them to their mother, then complete the Speed Challenge.
  • Cut the Red Tape: Cut the red tape in all levels. This may require multiple players for higher difficulty levels.

Starting Up: Choose number of players, Miis, difficulty, then Start.

Controls: Hold the remote vertically. Swing it front to back on one side of your body. Alternate sides to paddle and go straight. Swinging on only one side will cause you to go in circles.

Comments: Practice is recommended. Multiple players significantly help, especially for the 'Cut the Red Tape' stamp, as it's nearly impossible alone. Avoid weeds in higher difficulties.

VS Mode

Objective: Be the first player to score 5 points by passing checkpoints.

Players: 2-4.

Nunchuk Required: No.

Starting Up: As per Speed Challenge, with an option to choose teams if more than two players are present.

Controls: As per Speed Challenge.

Comments: It's easy to gain an early lead and difficult to catch up if you fall behind. Aim to get ahead early and stay there.

Cycling

Cycling features two modes: Road Race and VS.

Road Race

Objective: Use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to pedal and race to the finish line. Good timing is key to speed.

Players: 1-2 (played together for 2 players, can be on one remote).

Nunchuk Required: Yes.

Stamps:

  • Breathless: Finish a race when out of breath.
  • First of Many: Finish any race in 1st place for the first time.
  • 1-Stage Master: Finish all 1-stage races in first place.
  • 3-Stage Master: Finish both 3-stage races in first place.
  • 6-Stage Master: Finish the 6-stage race in first place (only the last stage needs to be won first place).

Starting Up: Choose number of players, Miis, number of stages, race, then Start.

Controls: Flick the remote and Nunchuk up and down alternately to simulate pedalling. Twist the controls like handlebars to turn corners (though the game assists with turning). Press B or Z (or both) to brake for sharp turns.

Comments: For two players, you share a bike (tandem). This can be fun.
